Final Fantasy 7 Film
yup, their making a film of the game, or rather a film set two years after the death of sephiroth.
Two years have passed since the defeat of Sephiroth, but the world is yet again at unease. We know of something called the Star-Scar Syndrome, which plagues the human race. One theory is that this is one of the effects Holy has had on the planet -- wanting to wipe out the humans, who causes nothing but harm to the planet. But no official comment has been made on that.
Cloud obviously has the main role in the movie, but the trailer gives the impression that he's yet again a loner. This might be misleading, though, since the developers haven't had time to finish any others of the characters.

why do they keep making garbage movies after garbage games?
i cant believe they still find people to back these doomed to fail expendatures.

i admit the game was standable but the only FF game i would say i enjoyed was number 3.avenger69ie wrote:i dunno, the game was quite good, i enjoyed it. the previous film, "final fantasy" was fairly shit, but it was packed with great (voice)actors.
all the others were garbage and FF8 was the worst goddamn one.

lol, i enjoyed 8, not so much as 7, but 9 and 10 totally sucked. 9, was so childish it hurt, and 10 the main charactor sounded totally gay and so did most of the other charactors. the story wasnt great either. But in 7, i dunno there was a wierd kind of quality to it that i just really enjoyed, maybe it was the storyline of an impending disaster thats in all FF games, but this one in particular, and the charactors were evolving and involving.

RE
I always enjoyed FF2 the most. FF7 seemed a little incomplete, but I enjoyed it up till Aeris died, and then I just sorta drolled through the rest of the game. The other characters just didn't have enough personality. I found myself not caring when Cloud almost died. I think they should have just let it be that Holy wiped out everyone. They could have let Red done the next movie all by himself :P Oh well, maybe it will be better than their last movie (hey lets kill all these good soldiers at the end! People like that... And it will make our sucky movie look good and stuff.). That guy should get over his granny death already, sheesh.
I don't get why a lot of games want to take away characters at the last 1/4th of the game. I mean, you've built them up and stuff. What are you going to do if that's the character you use all the time? Square has been a little loopy sometimes.
The characters in FF8 didn't have much personality either. Lets see Selphie was a clown, Irvine (sp?) was an incompetent sniper, Quistis was a lonely teacher, Rinoa a damsel in distress, and Squall a, rather grumpy, hero, with a big chip on his shoulder. The game was mildly interesting but not exactly a charmer. I could have definitely done without playing it. I did like the FMV sequences though, and the boss fights. But those are a part of every FF game.
FF9 was suppose to be funny. It took a bunch of stereotypes and exploited every cliche it could think of. I even liked how you could get abilities from your weapons (to an extent it was annoying though). It even ended pretty well. I don't remember who the antagonist was, but it doesn't really matter since it was a comedy. There were a lot of fun characters in it, and it was definitely more interesting than FF8.
FF10 was really bad at the start. You just had to lug through it a bit. I agree though, Square needs more masculine male heroes. The characters here had more personality than in the previous games. Auron was a tough guy with a bit of a sad past. Tidus needed some more personality. Too often you find Square letting you name the main character as though YOU are the main character. This lets them slack off on the dialogue. Its pretty rotten. The tiger man (forget his name) was interesting, but his past wasn't explored enough. The game was too focused on Yuna's quest. My main problem with the game is it was too short, too fucused on one quest, and didn't explore the characters enough. This is the big problem with 3d games. Too much detail, too little story. FF7 was pretty long, but 7 through 10 just don't compare with 2 and 3 (or 4 and 6 for those correctional types).
Wakka becomes a bit more interesting later on in the game. In particular his relationship with Lulu. It wasn't rocket science, and im sure its been done before, but at least they threw a little extra in there for you to think about. They really should have gave him throwing spears or something though. The ball WAS silly. Leave it at the game boy :P
Rikku's personality was unrealistic. Especially after her home was destroyed. I liked her but she had stuff to be mad about, but was always bubbly and stuff.
They could have done a little more with Yuna's character.
I haven't played FF 10-2 yet. Maybe I"ll come back and let you know what I think of it when its $20. Every FF game goes down to $20. Why bother paying $50 now? :P
FF2 and 3 will always be my favorites it seems. FF tactics had the best gameplay though, and you couldn't ask for a story with more twists than it had. Maybe that means ff12 is going to be REALLY good since the same people are working on it.
Only problem with FF3 was you had to use the espers to build up your people's stats or they really sucked. Bad way to go about it, but at least you could make a REALLY powerful magic user, or a really powerful fighter. But you had to rush through the game a lot and avoid battles to get the most out of espers. The level 99 cap ruined everything.
Sorry, maybe next time I should right a book?
Its good to hear that the Resident Evil sequel is coming out soon. The first was pretty good if you didn't get your hopes up too high (where's the tyrant and the hunters? phooey!). I liked seeing it more the 2nd time. Its basically like a setup to the 2nd film.
Maybe they can make a game from the 2nd film. Its sure to have a LOT more action than the first movie. Maybe Wesker will even make an appearance.
I wish they would hurry up and make a Resident Evil 5, or maybe even a Resident Evil tactics game :P Yeah, I would like to see a res evil game where you play with all the surviving characters and a mutated steve to bring down umbrella.
Speaking of Steve, he could have his own game. Resident Evil: Madness. He wakes up in some umbrella facility, finds a couple guns, and dual wields like a Devil May Cry wannabe. Even changing into his alternate form in the same fashion. Im sure everyone would appreciate an RE game done in this fashion, even if it did star the most underapprecated survivor :P
I hope its not like Tomb Raider 2. That movie blew chunks. It didn't know if it was a 007 film, Fast & Furious, Titanic, Indiana Jones or what. She did less tomb raiding than I do! Well maybe not.. but it was silly. Lara is a loner. Too many people helping out, too many high tech gadgets, too much infiltration, too many vehicles, and too little tombs and raiding.
Maybe next time she can fight more than 2 or 3 people, raid more than one tomb, and leave the love interest in the garbage.

Hopes. Dreams. You have to live these things. If not, they will remain prisoner within the confines of your mind for the rest of your life.

What about that guy from ff9? They stopped even trying to pretend that the villains looked like men then.
I donno, the movie looks interesting, I'm sure the plot will be meaningless drivel, but I've seen some clips and screenshots that look amazing. The first time I saw one scene, I actually thought it was a real actor. I'm sure it won't look quite as perfect when it's up on the big screen instead of mpeg compressed on a computer, but it's still cool.

I wish this forum would censor a few things... If I wanted to see that, id play FF7 again just so I could see Cid use the same expletive over and over and OVER again.
Actually that's another reason I don't like FF7. Its corny for people to use modern day curse words in a fantasy game.
Curseing is just downright distasteful and I think if someone wants to say something bad, they should be more creative than that. When you curse, you really lower your own standards and it makes you look dumb.
Aside from that, it also points out that he is an obvious troll. A lot of people like Cloud. Reminds me of the old Tifa vs Aeris garbage people go on about. Trolling.. don't people have BETTER things to do with their time?

No real offense intended, but that makes no sense. Words are words. How does using one over another make your standards lower? DING DING they don't, k?
