.spr Files

Post by Canis Lupus »

Okay, I've opened up the spr-sprites_0.bos file in Winzip, and I'm wondering if there is a way to view and/or convert these files into .bmp or whatever.

(Tell me how.)

I've heard you can do some stuff with photoshop and Red's Viewer program. Although, don't expect to be able to do much with the actor sprites. This is how people make new items though.

I think someone else who knows more about it can fill you in more. When I need new sprites, I just get someone else to make em or I take what's already available.

Hopes. Dreams. You have to live these things. If not, they will remain prisoner within the confines of your mind for the rest of your life.

Download Redviewer, from DaC or NMA and you'll be able to view all the sprites in the game and output them as tga files. Unfortunately character and vehicle sprites will not be extracted whole as the layers (for changing the team colours etc) will have to be exported seperately and then merged in your graphics editor.

Alternately you can look for the sprite to gif converter (here or at NMA) and use that to turn sprites into gifs.

Another type of archive file, made with WinAce IIRC.

You can download the latest Redviewer in zip format from JJ86's tutorial pages, if you prefer.

If you have any problems getting Redviewer to run you may need to also download the .msi version as well.
