Allow me to place my gentleman's monocle upon my brow and enunciate the proper response, good sir.... Ah, yes -- Final Fantasy fucking sucks.[TBC]-PaladinHeart wrote:Curseing is just downright distasteful and I think if someone wants to say something bad, they should be more creative than that. Oh boy another trite story line from the makers of AS THE WORLD T...erm Final Fantasy! I can't wait. On a similar note, can anyone tell me why all their male characters look like women? Seriously, Cloud reminds me of Anna from The O.C. thus causing me to pitch a tent everytime I watch the trailer.
The answer to your first question is shaddup.

Maybe it has to do with Japan's "Americaphobia", so to speak? Every Japanese video game's plot is some variation of Japan or nature defeating the evil round eye military industrial complex's equally evil plans. Usually the heroes in American stories are masculine manly men, so obviously Japanese folks would want the opposite of that -- scrawny, effeminate pussies.Killzig wrote:Oh boy another trite story line from the makers of AS THE WORLD T...erm Final Fantasy! Sure that didn't make any sense, but neither does Japan.

I see everyone failed to mention the more masculine characters from the FF games. But then, they aren't exactly the protagonist in most cases so I guess its a mute point. And those usually have a foul temperment, so maybe you're right about their view of Americans :P
I do wish they would quit with the girly protagonists and/or antagonists though. I never understood why so many people thought Sephiroth was cool. Is it the black trenchcoat? The white hair? It would be better to have the antagonist/protagonist as a woman instead.
On a side note, I think they tried to do the opposite with Paine from FFX-2.
Oh, by the way, isn't it a common forum rule not to make personal attacks on other forum members? Im having a hard time remembering the double post thing, but it looks like "being nice" would go against Megatron's nature! I think its called, "flame baiting?"

Either that or its because for some odd reason japanese girls & women like "Bishonen" (Basically defined as handsome youth). They even have a genre dedicated to that crap. The big sword and stuff is probably to offset the feminine qualities and interest japanese guys who don't really care if said hero looks like a OH SHIT I HEAR THE ICE CREAM TRUCK!!!!!111!1111oneone, cause chances are they want to look like that too so they can score/get popular with the ladies. The problem with japanese culture is like it's bizzaro so everything thats normal to us is like reversed there.Slave_Master wrote:Stuff.

Yeah it's just a japanese thing, ever seen any of their pop stars? Check out the band Dir en Grey... they all dress up like women a lot and they're all men. Malice Mizer? My friend thought that Mana was hot, until it turns out it's really a guy. So it's not just final fantasy here, all popular japanese guys are like that. That is seriously the most bizzaro country there is, they invent hentai, they ALL seem to have some sort of agressive rape fetish, and the men look like women. And the women look like schoolgirls.Wolfman Walt wrote:Either that or its because for some odd reason japanese girls & women like "Bishonen" (Basically defined as handsome youth). Case in point

TM Revolution - Considered one of the hotter J-pop artist. Then again, if you compare him to like the backstreet boys or something like that, well yea. Regardless, this is what alot of Japanese teenagers strive to look like. Scary huh? Its not a wonder why American men are becoming very succesful with Japanese women there.

I thought they wiped with their own robe? Oh wait that was the taliban..
Im hoping FF12 will be better and have a more masculine hero. Does anyone know if any movie/demo video clips exist for it yet? I heard that it is going to be made by the people who helmed Final Fantasy tactis.
FFT had a very dark feel to it. I still remember how shocked I was when it showed a little superdeformed guy stab another one, and his blood start pouring on the floor.
The only problem I have with the FFT games is how they keep walking... And the new one's story kinda sucks, but some of the new features are cool.

Yes, and his keyboardist is just as womanly looking. I'm waiting for the first person to say "DUDE! That has to be a chick!" already.

I loved FF7. The story-line drew me in so damn much, I almost considered myself a nerd! Good damn thing I was a kid when I played it, otherwise I would've gotten fat! I didn't like the movie much though. Shitty story, shitty battles, shitty characters. The only good thing on that movie, the name Final Fantasy, and the graphics. I hope they don't tarnish the name of FF7 by making another shitty FF movie and actually try and do a better job this time instead of just focusing on graphics.
