Fallout Enforcer keeps on suckin'
[ -> Review]
PSXNation has posted a stellar review of Fallout Enforcer - giving it the coveted 6/10 rating. Here's the conclusion:

Let's face it, Brotherhood of Steel is not a true Fallout title by any means. With its bland, repetive gameplay, recycled in-game graphics, mid-battle slowdown, and awkwardly placed musical insertions, it's hard for the game's better features to really shine. But, with Interplay's recent disbanding of Black Isle Studios (and the inevitable cancelling of Fallout 3), Brotherhood of Steel is the closest thing out there to the post-apocalyptic role-playing experience gamers everywhere have enjoyed for the better part of the last decade. If you're looking for something new, you won't find it here. With the lack of personal character custimization and only wieghing in at around 15-20 hours on the first playthrough, you'd be better off saving your cash for Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II or Champions of Norrath: Realms of Everquest.

Okay, now is there anyone left outside a few cockgobblers at the IPLY forums who don't know this game sucks?

Spotted this at No Mutants Allowed, mainly because I refuse to go out of my way to look for reviews of this franchised trainwreck.

Why, of course there are!Saint_Proverbius wrote:Okay, now is there anyone left outside a few cockgobblers at the IPLY forums who don't know this game sucks?
Your idols speak so much of the abyss, yet your morals only run as deep as the surface.

There's the occasional idiot who makes it his business to say how great the game is, then leaves, then its some other idiot some other time. Though i have to admit, the people at the IPLY forums do make a better job of defending crap.

This common misconception has been corrected many, many times.
1) The consumer is in no way, shape, or form responsible if a game tanks. If Interplay makes a Fallout game that does not appeal to the particular market that likes Fallout, that's their problem.
2) If FOBOS performs well, Fallout 3 will not be made -- sequels to FOBOS will be produced (One is in production already, I understand). In fact, they already cancelled Fallout 3 so they could focus more resources on FOBOS/FOBOS 2, so it's pretty obvious that they have no intention to utilize the Fallout name for any PC products.
Cheers.

Well I'm sure BOS is good in the same way that Pong was good or solitaire is good - they are good diversions to keep your mind off the fact of your inevitable mortality. Probably better and cheaper methods of diverting your thoughts are stabbing your arm with a pencil and sitting on the toilet humming Neil Diamond tunes. That said, how does it compare to other current action games for the consoles? It seems like the comparisons I hear are that it doesn't hold up against any other console games.

Fans have been asking for Fallout 3 for more than five years. Interplay does not plan on making it.
On this issue I'm inclined to agree with Jimmyjay. It might be an alright game, to give you the benefit of the doubt, but since there are other console action games that are both better and cheaper than FOBOS, I can't see why I should spend my money on it., though as a FO fan I wont give up yet and BOS was still a good game (wont call it great, I missed the level of RP freedom and the game was drastically shorter than the other FO titles)
No problem with that. There was never much of a chance of seeing another "real" Fallout title again, anyway. The only problem is if you guys turn down BOS there is a chance we may never see any FO titles ever again,
If you enjoy it, then good for you. However, I'm not much of a fan of BGDA-types, and especially not a fan of poorly made BGDA clones. If I enjoyed the game at all, I doubt it would be fifty dollar's worth of enjoyment. This also goes back to point number one of my first reply to you -- it's Interplay's job to make a game that lots of people will want to play. They failed. I'm not wasting my hard earned money on a game I won't like just so they can pump out sequels, in the hope that they will renounce their stupidity and make Fallout 3. No.and honestly I'd rather have at least a little FO to play than absolutely nothing at all...I just refuse to be swayed by what a reviewer has to say and play it for myself, the only person who tells me if I'm going to like a game is myself....
Besides, if you really want Fallout 3, the best/only chance (although slightly better than nonextistent) is that Iplay finally croaks and somebody capable buys the license and produces a sequel. Nobody will want the license if it's been defecated upon multiple times by Interplay.
To conclude, it is incorrect to blame Fallout fans for FOBOS tanking, and it is incorrect in many ways to cite desire for FO3 as a reason for purchasing FOBOS.
Cheers

Not to break any sudden news to you, but we've been asking for Fallout 3 for the past 5 years (It'll be 6 this year) and our responses have only been put off. If its taken them this long to realize we want Fallout 3, and not some lame spin off or diversion, then someone at interplay needs to be tested for mental effinciency. Its not like its "sudden news" that we want Fallout 3. Also, your assumption that BOS will get us Fallout 3 is wrong for the core reason that; its getting us BOS 2. Which can only hope to include more cussing, nudity, and other dumb shanangans to keep console gamers happy and maybe bring Interplays stock level up another 10 cents. Did we eventually see FO3? Yea. Then we saw it get canned because apperantly BOS was more important.abnathapryde wrote:Only time will tell really, if BOS succeeds and the fans continue to ask for FO3 I'm sure we will eventually see FO3
