Yup, he did pretty much say that if the game tanked, it would be our faults for bashing it.
Then again, I certainly didn't think the game would suck as bad as some of the things I've heard about it. For example, if you have two berrettas in your inventory, you can only wield one at a time. To dual wield, you have to find an item called "Dual Berrettas" and just wield that. How lame is that?

Cyrus also says 'sheyyyt' every 3rd attack. QUALITY!
And it has awesome game design like black pits that if you fall down you die, because you know, lots of bottomless pits are in Post-Apoc. Other good design features like, getting a baseball bat early on and it does more damage and has longer reach than the spiked gloves you get later on.
And on the note of gloves, no enemy uses anything less than the baseball bat, so you just get shot/beat while trying to use Hand-to-Hand weapons (as they can reach you while you cant reach them).

Well, that's the funny part. All the reviews range from either "okay" to "What the hell is this shit?" Fallout fans had NOTHING to do with how mediocre to crappy this game is. It's just a poorly done game made by people who really have demonstrated they shouldn't be in the industry.Grimey wrote:He was trying to be satiric.Even if he is trying to blame us for game being badly sold,it is not gonna work.

Penny-Arcade had a little blurb about FO:BOS...which makes Tycho sound stupid.
"Fallout: Brotherhood Of Steel, which is either a miserable piece of shit or okay, depending on who you ask. It made no friends among the largely PC oriented gamers that built the franchise for its "dumbed down" console action, but since the same things were said about Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and that game was great, so all by itself a break with tradition doesn't really convince me of anything. I haven't heard much good spoken of it, though - but any game with co-op can be enjoyed under the right circumstances, and it also has submachineguns, you know, which I'm sort of partial to. "

If you ask clueless sods, it's okay, or even great. To people who know how to put two and two together, it is a piece of shit."Fallout: Brotherhood Of Steel, which is either a miserable piece of shit or okay, depending on who you ask.
Dark Alliance was a well made copy of Gauntlet-style games, and didn't tamper with the canon of the original, both gamewise and storywise, in any relevant way (if at all). BoS is a copy of a copy of a Gauntlet-style game, with a severe lack of good points, the most obvious being the cluelessness of the dev team to what the original was about, and their lack of effort in making the product feel original (as it stands its a rather bleak copy and paste job of BG:DA). As to the point of it being "dumbed down", i never had a problem with that. Different mediums, different gameplay concepts. I can't expect a CRPG to be implemented on console as it would be on a PC, mainly because of control issues. And i wouldnt even mind seeing and playing an FPS or Adventure game set in Fallout's setting, as long as it did the same excellent job of portraying a post-nuclear alternate reality setting and FO's high points as the two CRPGs. What i do mind however, is playing a mediocre game like FOBoS, and watch powerless as it carries the Fallout name without holding a candle to the spirit of the original. It made no friends among the largely PC oriented gamers that built the franchise for its "dumbed down" console action, but since the same things were said about Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and that game was great, so all by itself a break with tradition doesn't really convince me of anything.
Translation: Anything with guns, no matter how crap it is, or how clueless you are about it, is alright in your book.I haven't heard much good spoken of it, though - but any game with co-op can be enjoyed under the right circumstances, and it also has submachineguns, you know, which I'm sort of partial to."

So Penny Arcade actually liked FO:BOS and actually dislikes the X-Box and Halo. Your point being?...
It seems they are only good for jokes. Half of which are not even funny.

You obviously don't read Penny Arcade much, or else your statment wouldn't have been made.[TBC]-PaladinHeart wrote:So Penny Arcade actually liked FO:BOS and actually dislikes the X-Box and Halo. Your point being?...

OK so I don't read it much. Just the occasional stuff in magazines. Half was maybe too harsh? But surely we won't get into the whole percentile thing like the 90/10 Kreeg & SP went on about. Maybe 40% isn't funny, or 30, 20, 10. Anyways they're not always funny. And I certainly didn't appreciate their dig at the "giant" x-box controllers and Halo's levels.
But that's just my last statement. I wouldn't trust some funny guys to do reviews. That'd be like getting my news off of the Daily Show.
