To answer to your "whispering behind your back" accusation, Kreegle, here's my view on the whole situation.
1. Killzig did indeed act immaturely when he made Megatron an admin. I don't really blame Megatron for it, because that's what I'd expect from him being an admin. But if anyone at the Codex did something like what Killzig did, he would probably be removed from the staff.
2. Kreegle's closing the site I can understand, as I would have also been pissed off is someone did something like that to my site. But giving the access to NMA guys (I'm not saying NMA is bad, of course) without first consulting Saint and MadMax (not to mention the owners of hosted sites and forums - Slamak, EvoG, and others) was simply wrong. He also retired months ago, without really explaining why, which can be understood as giving the power over DAC over to Saint and Killzig (who also owns the domain and the account).
3. Saint_Proverbius did indeed more or less abandon DAC, posting a lot of Fallout-related stuff at RPG Codex and not at DAC, and only posting some most important stuff here. That's what I did too, by the way, as, believe it or not, I have also posted some news here (a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away). That said, he still has been writing here from time to time, and wrote a large portion of the site's content.
4. And, by the way, the "staff" site definitely needs an update. It hasn't been changed since the move from GameSpy!

I think that Ausir, Kreegle, Killzig, Rosh, Saint, and everyone else needs to listen to what Mr. T has to say.
I see. So you were talking behind my back because... wait. How does any of what you just said affect you personally again? :confused2:Ausir wrote:2. Then you might want to check your memory. I wouldn't have told people to do that as it would be asinine to an extreme.UnKre3gle wrote: That's not the post I remember... I didn't know there was more than one. The one I saw was fresh - at the top of the message board.
Which Jay and I spent a lot of time scraping the forums free from morons, to be replaced by the GameSpy crowd. I really don't think he took that into account. While some aren't too bad, others really took the quality of the forums down into the garbage.True, that was your domain.Rosh wrote:Well, it must have been a miracle because until GameSpy, you really didn't participate on the forums.
He was redesigning the site all the time, except for the times that he was gone entirely.Jay didn't tell you? "For what seems like an eternity now, we've been working on a top-secret project." You know I didn't really have much contact with you back then - sorry. Jay had been working on the RPGPlanet site for aaaages before that announcement.
I also thought it was Smackrazor that did the site at RPGPlanet, although I could be wrong. In addition, most of the content was already done at Fallout2.net. It's kind of hard to claim that Jay was working on the RPGPlanet site when you say the following:
Which is it going to be?Edit - I'll just add: Sorry for your work being lost. Jay was the main one responsible for putting a new design together (it was flash based, and never really got finished), so we just transferred the materials from his flash design into the one on RPGPlanet. I didn't know who's work was who's - you might want to chat with Jay about that too.
Funny, in the context you used, it really was intended as an insult and went in line with what you said to imply that I really didn't care for the site to the point of trying to sabotage it. You implied as much with the claim I told people to bail before the announcement.I didn't say you hated the site - that's putting words into MY mouth. I also said you didn't loathe, scorn or distrust the site. I said you didn't think highly enough of the site to keep people posting there.
That's a malicious act, one that is only founded in dislike.
With which you supposedly replied "Cheers Rosh?"I'm not lying either - I honestly remember that post, because it bothered me at the time. You were responsible for the forums, and I was the news guy - when I saw that I felt a little betrayed... but as we didn't know eachother, nothing much came of it.
Fact is, until a while after you moved to GameSpy, and even then it was in CC, we never really talked to each other. Or at all, for that matter. When people asked me who you were, I just replied with "I don't know much about him, but Jay seems to have handed over the site to him, and I guess he's going to do as he sees fit. I'm not going to deal with the mass of idiots on the GameSpy forums. I'll be over at NMA."
I was ambivalent towards you then, but after I saw that the move to GameSpy was being done by the surprise announcement, then I just left. Now I can imagine that I may have posted something before I left, but I would not have told everyone to leave, but instead have told people where I was going. You didn't like me all the way back then... that much that you wouldn't have helped out?
I also find it funny that if I didn't like you back then, why I would have stuck around for that amount of time. Or bothered to post what I did on the forums after you guys left GameSpy, or even bothered to join up here after the site went up.
I don't hate you, I just really am disappointed in what you've done. That makes twice, now. I am trying to overlook your skewing of things, especially how much time of my own I've spent on the site, much less supposedly not caring about it.
Because your attitude is starting to be confirmed as a habit of yours. You can't just put up a site or expect to run one and have people help out, then rip it out from nearly all of them without warning when you feel like it and start handing it out. That makes two. The next time, anyone this happens to by your hands, they pretty much deserve it.What did I do to make you dislike me? You seemed nice enough when we've talked in the past.
I was pointing out that you've done this shit before, but I decided to really pay no attention to it then and stopped coming to the site since it went to GameSpy.
Perhaps I should have said something then so you might have had something to think upon before you did this, but I'm fairly certain that it may not have helped much.

Jay was designing a Flash-based site for RPGPlanet. The menu was going to be a horizontal bar across the top of the screen, and when the mouse cursor floated over a section, an old 50's style TV in the top-right corner would flicker to life and show a visual representation of where you were going.
It was never completely finished, and Jay had to leave, so we transferred the materials already implemented into that beta site into a different, non-flash design which Smackrazor constructed.

Such a shame that its taken this to bring all the great names in the Fallout community together.
Its also a shame that this is happening after we finally had and lost F3...because of the real jerks at IPLY.
It seems that DAC has had the bad rep of having a bunch of jack asses on its forum from day one...but so does almost every other forum on the internet.
This whole thing seems to have been one big smack in the face for everyone...it seems those that run DAC need to get things strightened out...but perhaps flaming each other until next week is their solution, hell it sounds like the way its always been.
For what its worth I'd say that you are all right and your all wrong, so far all the main points brought up in this thread seem valid...ad of course things aren't always as we remember.
I hope things settle down and DAC stays put...I may never post here...but I still check the place daily for news.

There have been a number of overreactions the past few days, not the least of which was mine, that set off this powder keg. I would like to take the time to explain my part in what has happened & share a few thoughts on the fallout community.
When I joined the Fallout community Vault-13, DaC & NMA were all in full swing. I was a lurker on all & read V-13 most frequently as the news updates were high quality & I'll be damned if that board didn't have some attitude. It had the advantage in my attention because the form of the NMA forums (nested threads anyone) were a pain in the ass to navigate & Gamespy's registration proccess a.) didn't work & b.) opened me up to a shitload of spam. V-13 closed. Mass exodus to DaC.
I love DaC. At our best we have thriving forums, some good news posts & excellent commentary from Killzig's Kiddie Pool, Saint's thourough knowledge, dedication to gaming & love of a good debate, Roshambo's willpower, design experience & downright cussedness, Kreegle's ability to keep a straight head & willingness to spend the hours needed to update.
All of these elements together made for diverse, enjoyable experience. As a reader I was never sure what would be coming next on DaC but knew that we had direction, momentum & a fierce if not fanatical love of Fallout to share with each other & to carry with us as a rallying call. To come to DaC was to recive an education, to say the least.
So what happened the other day? Killzig decided things were stagnant & boring & threw a house party. Those can be fun & liven things up or they can trash the place beyond repair. When I came in the music was too damned loud, it looked like we were subjecting the neighborhood to a scat porno & there were a couple fellows running around to setting fire to whatever caught their fancy. I grabbed a beer, took a look around & decided that the risk of DaC burning down as a result of activities was too high & called 911.
Kreegle & I set about trying to clean things up a bit. He removed the *fist* pic from the server before more folk could view it. I worked on cleaning up some changed titles & general messiness. I was dissappointed in DaC & in Killzig, Pyro & Spazmo. I have always known that as a DaC co-owner Zig should come with the tag *WARNING: UNPREDICTABLE* truth be told the very thing I was upset about is also one of the things I love about him. I just felt that being in a position of responsibility & having spent so much time & effort on the site that it was downright vile & brought our credibility down another heavy notch to turn folk loose to trash the place.
At some time during the conversation that I had with Kreegle when we were fixing the place back up he asked me if I thought things were going to get any better from here. I have been thinking on that for awhile & responded that it wouldn’t without some big changes. I’d decided that I would like to keep on with the modding of GD but didn’t feel effective as an administrator on the board as my touch has always been fairly gentle & DaC’ers do not seem to respond to less than a baseball bat to the side of the head. We (DaC’ers) keep on talking about changes or bitching about what is wrong but nothing ever gets done. Kreegle was not in the best of moods with the messed up php, the mass e-mail etc & that was likely as not exactly the wrong thing to say at exactly the wrong time. The next thing I heard we were closing down & transferring the database to NMA. I wasn’t that surprised with the merger & didn’t have a whole lot to say about it. I assumed that there had been a discussion & tried to contact Saint for his opinion but missed him. At that point I gave up any right to have a say in the day to day operations of this community. I quit AND was fired. Damn.
I’ve been sitting back watching things get back in line for the past few days & am glad to see that there is some plan in the works & changes are coming. While I regret in some ways that I’m not going to be a part of making those changes happen I’m content to view them from the member side of the board & plan on sticking around. This should give me a chance to have some fun posting & joking around with you lot. I wish the staff the best of luck & the strength to get us to follow your lead.
I know DaC, NMA & RPG Codex are just a few of many internet forums out in cyberspace, nothing we do is ever going to change the world in one fell swoop but keeping the them running & the community strong is important. Who else is there to point out that next possible post apoc gem, argue the developers into changing some boneheaded decision or keep the community focused on something that we love? Err, yeah, I know that there are some guys out there with the warrior spirit that WILL do that with or without websites to work with but for the rest of us THIS IS WHERE IT’S AT.

A post I told people to bail in, made long before the move to RPGPlanet, and I also stayed around until the news item of the move came about.UnKre3gle wrote:I remember it clearly.Rosh wrote:Then you might want to check your memory. I seriously have doubts of that.
Let's think of this chronologically, shall we?Jay was designing a Flash-based site for RPGPlanet.
1. Jay works on site for RPGPlanet. True, he might have only talked to you about it.
2. Jay has to go, so the site isn't finished, prompting a replacement designer. At this time, you'd be "the boss".
3. The announcement is made at Fallout2.net. It would be useless to make an announcement when the new site would still be under construction, so therefore the site at RPGPlanet would be done by now.
Therefore, at the time of the announcement, you were the person in charge and you did jack shit for anyone at the site except yourself. You had all the time from Jay looking to leave till when Smackrazor and yourself completed the new site. Judging from the lack of Jay posting news (Oct?-Nov2000), that leaves you with a window of around 2-3 months (site move announced on Jan2001).
Then you need to work on the presentation so it does not come across as such, especially with the "no love for" comment when I spent the amount of time I did, especially on the forums. That was your interpretation, and it is mistaken.Rosh wrote:Funny, in the context you used, it really was intended as an insult and went in line with what you said to imply that I really didn't care for the site to the point of trying to sabotage it. You implied as much with the claim I told people to bail before the announcement.
That's a malicious act, one that is only founded in dislike.
So that's your excuse? "Well, I guess he didn't want to follow us, even though none of us talked to him."That's fair enough, you're not alone in your dislike of Gamespy - Saint isn't all that keen on them either.Rosh wrote:I was ambivalent towards you then, but after I saw that the move to GameSpy was being done by the surprise announcement, then I just left.
Did the missing CC e-mail ever occur to you, and that if Jay was discussing redesigns or whatever, that I would have been included in such? Or was it just between him and yourself and assume that I would just wander over like I was on a leash?
According to you, I told people to bail out while I continued to stay there until the time of the move was announced. Things...aren't adding up, I'm afraid.
So you're telling me that when you went over to RPGPlanet, you never at once thought, "Hey, did Rosh know about this?" or did you just go about selecting new people to man the boards without much of a pause? Was the first time you were disappointed because of the GameSpy move? Fair enough - but that was a joint move between me and Jay... he was my "superior" in effect, so he had the final word... and like I mentioned before, he was excited about the idea. So I can't be totally to blame!
Since Jay left, that would have made you the head honcho, right?
Or, more or less (and to be blunt), you were pretty much not thinking of the team. Yes, it is a team, you have to learn to work that way. True, you can decide to close down the site if you want, but that doesn't do any good for anyone who put effort into it. You can change the site, or where it's located, but that doesn't do much good for those who put effort into it and aren't given much regard.A habit?! What the fuck? My actions the other day, shutting down the site because the bullshit had gone too far, was the first and ONLY time I've ever snapped. A habit? You've disliked me all this time because I've got a habit of arrogantly disregarding other peoples work and closing sites? A FUCKING HABIT?
And yet, when you were put into the place of being "the boss", things went along to your plan and I just bet you were overjoyed at the now full forums at the new location. You honestly put the long and though-out move from fallout2.net to Gamespy in the same category as my disruption of Duck and Cover the other day? Rosh, I didn't have the final say in the old fallout2.net move! Jay was my boss! And I didn't make any dramatic outbursts then - we'd been working on it for ages!
Plus it didn't occur to you at all "Hey, does Rosh know of any of this stuff?" because my name was missing from all correspondence?
I'm sorry if I don't put much interest in the DRAMA! aspect of it all. Maybe I just don't give a shit about the drama and only about the problems.
Not attcked, no, but have on occasion shown little regard to those who help out on it in lieu of yourself. Or, perhaps I should say it was done selectively? After all, according to you I've never had any love for this site. Kind of easy to leave someone in the dust when you label them that for your own conscience, isn't it?I've put up with a lot of shit before, and I've always stood by my mates - like when Joost kicked Killzig off rpgplanet, I said "fuck it", stood by him and moved DAC into the unknown. I've NEVER attacked this site before - apart from me closing it down the other day - and you say I've got a habit?
It was pretty fucked up, much like handing over someone's work on a spur of the moment thing, without even bothering to discuss it with the rest of the people of the site. I'm sure the same would have happened if Jay wasn't "the boss" back then. I still doubt I would have been contacted, pre or post move.
I'm really not angry at you now, just rather surprised that you've done this. At this point, all I can say it's a lesson to remember and leave it at that. I appreciate the work you've done, and in doing quite a lot of other aid to the Fallout community, but I cannot stress how much you cannot do these stunts any more. That will make people lose all faith in you, and quite frankly I still do have respect for you else I wouldn't have told you half this shit. That's why I made the claim of you doing this out of habit, so that you can see something like this in the future coming long before you accidentally do it out of habit. It will rest in the mind much firmer that way, and I do regret having to put it that bluntly. I'm willing to say no harm, no foul, and we can just go on our own business or whatever.
Now for the comedic portion of this post:
I would like to applaud Saint for sticking up to his ideals. It's not often you find a sexual vegan. Kinky, Saint, for going for the vegetables in the wheelchairs. i:chick:i

My excuse for not forwarding all of the correspondance I had with GameSpy or contacting you personally was, like I said before, I didn't know you at all. Much like I never sent you an email introducing myself, you never sent one to me either. And, perhaps mistakenly, from what I had read on forums / seen on NMA, you were more strongly aligned with the No Mutants site, so the idea of passing on all of the details never really entered my mind... again, sorry if that annoyed you.
There was another moderator on the old DAC... though for the life of me I can't remember his name... who contacted me about the move, and I gave him details and offered him a moderatorship at the new forum - he accepted, but I don't think he hung around for long.
Regarding "the team" - Jay never mentioned talking to other people about the site move, so I took it for granted that the two of us WERE the team.
Look, I've apologised to Saint - we've got things sorted out now, and we're moving on. I've apologised to you for not telling you about the GameSpy move - and I'll do it again - but DAMN you make it hard when you continually berate me even after I've tried to explain myself reasonably.

See, it's comments like that I really take exception to - suddenly I have this long-lived reputation of being a selfish prick when it comes to the website...Rosh wrote:Not attcked, no, but have on occasion shown little regard to those who help out on it in lieu of yourself.

That's cool, I'm more than happy to let this rest - I'll be glad when this whole episode can be done with for good, and I'll no longer be called a "big fat doody head sheepfucker"... but, perhaps sadly, I find it ironic that I'll be the only one remembered for pulling harmful "stunts"... that I'm the only one who has to defend themselves. Kre3gle, community slayer. A sign of the timesRosh wrote:I'm really not angry at you now, just rather surprised that you've done this.

Kreegle, Rosh said you're a fruity vegan homo that felches koalas in his spare time.
Rosh, Kreegle said your mother sells her ass on eBay and only accepts Tijuanan trinkets.
Discuss.
Your idols speak so much of the abyss, yet your morals only run as deep as the surface.

As opposed to Haplo's shorts, for once? I assume your sexual therapy is progressing wonderfully, then.Kotario wrote:Hey Kreegle, just popping my head out of the woodwork.
Oh, I understand. You didn't get the email.I'd like to say that I'm sorry to hear about the situation.
Wow... just wow. If I was in Kreeg's shoes right now, I'd feel pretty fucking insulted.Have my respect, for whatever its worth.
