How will quests be done? Will there be a way to enter caves and buildings and such to do quests? I like the game, but I can't imagine it being really playable without some sort of variation in gameplay throughout.

Yes, the idea is that my other project is going to be implanted into "Zonetripper"(hate that name, i was drunk ok). So the missions will be given if you are in a bar in towns and overhear things like "My brother went up to that old powerstation and never came back. Its north of here. I wonder what happend". There you get the clue to walk north and a: search for the place when camping(a new button) or b: the place pops up north of the town. When entering the ol´Pstation you will walk around in it(i will reuse some of the code from Badlands - www.gobias.com/badlands - ).
Or if you meet some merchants out in the waste they can tell you /ask you to go to places and do things.
