atoga wrote:As for the stuff about the Kill Bill violence: it's hardly designed for film students with plastic glasses to fawn over. It's made with people who have watched a lot of Kung Fu and gory B-movies in mind. Like I said, no-bullshit. Kill Bill may be full of references, but they're all meant to be taken at face value. All it is is over-the-top goodness, and if you don't like that kind of thing you probably suck (heaven forbid you don't like Texas Chainsaw Massacre?) but don't complain about it as if you're missing something or as if Kill Bill has ulterior motives.
I like Gory B movies (love Dead Alive) but I'm not much for Kung Fu. The choreography in Kill Bill didn't blow me away, I thought it was kind of meh. Everything felt very drawn out, very boring. The cinematography didn't help things with constant close ups of eyes, feet, hands, wide shot, rinse, repeat. For every friggen enemy. Almost as annoying as ROTK's false stops at the end.

here's a link to the kb2 trailer..

should be right up top.

Oh yeah, one more thing, about Pirates, I was so skeptical about that movie that I only recently saw it on DVD, but I was completely surprised at how good it was. The acting was excellent across the board (Geoffry Rush is amazing) but back on topic, Depps character was really fun to watch, because he played him so well.

Killzig, are you talking about Dead or Alive, by Takashi Miike? If so, is it as good as his other movies? Audition (Odishon) was excellent, altho a bit slow, and Ichii the Killer was crazy.

No, he's talking about Peter Jackson's Dead Alive.

Yikes. Even the House of Blue Leaves fight? Dude, if that wasn't the best fight scene I've ever seen in my life, I don't know what. The choreography was amazing.

To each his own, I guess.

a) You couldn't if you tried.
b) I wouldn't blow you if you were the last guy on Earth and I needed crack money.

Oh, and shut up.

What more needs to be said, really? No wonder he loves Breathtaking Battles And Pretentious Speechifying 101, aka Lord of the Rings.

I'm mighty sure Killzig is talking about Dead Alive, as in the Peter Jackson movie Dead Alive aka Braindead.

s4ur0n27, you talk about Ichi the Killer as if you might have enjoyed it. WTF? The trailer was more than enough to turn me away. I don't have a problem with gore and stuff, but nipple-slicing and whatever else they had going for them is way over the top for me.

I still want to see it. Nothing shocks me anymore when it comes to movies - hopefully Ichi will change that. Plus, I've heard nothing but raves coming from his corner, so it can't be all that bad. Audition is in the mail.

Ichi the Killer kicks ass. The special effects are very well done and it has a good story, try and see it.

Braindead (Dead Alive) is pretty good too.

Audition I thought was a bit slow. It seemed good but they always show asian movies on at about 2 in the morning on sundays and I need too go too school and junk. The movie didn't seem anything too special but was alright. Didn't see the end because I got bored.

The fight in the house of blue leaves was good. I thought it should have been in colour but whatever. I'm not sure if it'd be the best fight ever as I haven't seen enough movies. It was good still. I think it could be a little annoying how it had taken all the stuff from other movies and used it in that, a little like how matrix was for anime mebbe.

The end makes the whole movie, that torture scene is just _INCREDIBLE_.
***ssszing, ssszing*** no more feet !

And yes I enjoyed Ichii the Killer

Braindead was crazy good too :D I love that fight between the baby and the guy in the park.

Spoilerz, s4ur0n27. Spoilerz suck.

Anyway, Entertainment Weekly's Oscar issue came out this week. Still rooting for Mystic River. Still haven't seen it.

I also want to see Monster, because Charlize Theron is apparently amazing in it. Of course, she's always been a great actress, but this one sounds mind-blowing.

Well, no suprises last night. I think it would have been terribly funny if Master and Commander or Seabiscuit went and took the gold.

Fucking Lord of the Rings. WHATEVER, Academy.

Overall, this year’s ceremony kinda threw me off. For one, everyone looked good – there were no fashion disasters like in previous years. For another, Billy Crystal didn’t grate. And even though it was 3 ½ hours long, it wasn’t as ass-numbing as last year’s. The Jack Black/Will Ferrell song was hilarious, too. And FUNNY! Gasp!

The pre-show dorks have got to go, though. They’re always so much perkier and excited than any of the actual celebrities there, like it’s the goddamned lunar landing instead of a navel-gazing marathon. Shut up, pre-show dorks.

(I know, resurrecting old topics is verboten. Feel the wrath of my not caring.)

It's same academy that gave Titanic a dozen awards. Very hard to take them seriously.

Yeah... And they made best foreign film some cheesemongering winesmelling one. C'mon! How can they *not* let a film called "Evil" win? And it's Swedish!!!
Organized religion is the first thing that will be put up against the wall and shot when the revolution comes.

Hey, hey. That "winesmelling one" was Canadian! Biznatch! We'll take over the film industry with our genteel French dramas! Just you wait and see!

But I'm confused. Why wasn't City of God nominated? Did Brazil not submit it as their official entry or something?

City of God was nominated for best editing, but lost to, of course LOTR:ROTK.

I honestly have no idea why anyone pays attention to any awards shows. If you truly like and respect a film of any kind, that movie getting an award or getting nothing shouldn't change your opinion.
Endure. In enduring, grow strong.

Needless to say, I was quite pissed at ROTK's cleanup, and was forced to punch a number of people who were gloating about it today in my face.

I feel sorry for Master & Commander and Lost In Translation.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
