Neocron: Beyond the Dome of York.
[Game -> Update]
The plan file for Neocron: Beyond the Dome of York has been released. Although the game will follow a more 'cyberpunk' path, it still will honor it's post-apoc roots. Release is expected in the second quarter 2004.

A horrible game, but the odd thing is after I read the plan file I lost all hope in DoY, for those of you have not seen the planfiles before, every single one has not come true at least at the deadlines they set, the guy who wrote it seems like he knows nothing about DirectX9, he also stated better graphics in 3 other points. The new vehicles/dynamic items/hacknet were all promised (as well as some other things like mechs) months ago, hell hacknet has been promised before the game was even in beta.
The sad part is Neocron is still a beta game, and DoY is gona try to make it gold but the fact is, if you don't like NC now you are not gona like it after DoY.
I would say more but im too tired, I'll add some more later...

If you're going to judge a game on graphics rather than gameplay, then you're no better than the people who consider 'useless' facts.s4ur0n27 wrote:Well I can say the demo was shit and the graphics were ugly.
And I don't like to judge a game considering some useless fact. It's good, or it sucks. There is no it sucks but I'll play it considering the guy worked hard on it.... blah blah. BS.
The game may not be pretty, but they have an excuse.
The gameplay however, is great. If it wasn't, Neocron wouldn't have kept 1/3 of its original playerbase.

Seeing as it's been retail for over a year, with a publisher who didn't know which way was forward, I'd say they did great.Role-Player wrote:If it was great, it probably should've kept more than 1/3.
Have you seen an ad for Neocron since release? If you said yes, you're lying.
CDV fucked over Neocron, the new flux of people which is supposed to come in to replace the gaps in the meatsheild never came.
Those that did start playing were generally informed by actual players, not an advertiser.
The Dome of York 'expansion' is a rerelease of the game, not an expansion. With the new publisher, it's beleived that more players will be pulled in...
Why?
CDV did its bulk of advertising in Europe. Which sections of the world hold the bulk of the MMO gaming populace? North America and Asia.
Where will the new publisher be aiming? North America and Asia.
So you're basing your entire opinion of the game...s4ur0n27 wrote:Wow. Nothing is great about this game, and the graphics are shit.
Now why would I play it? Because I should have some pity for the guys who developped it and spend some money to encourage them?
On a demo that was released in the middle of the final stage of beta...
Even though the game went retail nearly a year and a half ago?
Let me school ya' on something real quick. Reakktor was and is by no means a mom and pop shop, but it isn't a financial powerhouse either. If Neocron did well - more programmers would've been hired, newer graphical updates would've been added, etc.
However, Neocron didn't do well on release.
It didn't do well after release - No one knew what it was, and currently, most of the gaming world is oblivious to NC's existance.
Reakktor has let people go since then, meaning less updates, and a lessened ability to make new content.
I can understand that you wouldn't appreciate a game and the corperation behind it that manages to persevere, because you seem to only enjoy asthetic powerhouses.
I'm sorry you feel that way, but there's no point in shitting up the name if you have no clue about it.
