Sequels generally suck. Give me something entirely new. I like the steam-punk genre but the story of Arcanum was kinda ho-hum.

I have to disagree about ranged combat in Baldur's Gate 2. I found it very useful to have around two or three fighters to block, with 3 or more ranged/magic users in the rear.

Granted, the magic users are superior to the archers, but your fighters usually double as ranged/melee guys. Good to snap off a shot or two before they get in close.

Granted, its usually tedious to manage arrows so I usually just go in with my main char (a fighter) and just gib everything :-/

It would be nice to have a story driven game such as Fallout or KOTOR but also have dungeon crawls like Diablo 2 where you can go hack n slash for good randomized loot. Icewind dale had some good random loot. Its too bad its a little short and the dungeons get a little tiring. Plus there is the boring stuff you always get.

I wish they would combine BG1, BG2, Icewind Dale, and Torment all into one big D&D game. It'd be fun. With randomized dungeons and loot of course :) It'd be neat if you didn't know if you were going to be fighting a Sarevok clone or Demon for example at the end of a dungeon. And always have simple little quests that send you fetching some irrelevant item. Blizzard should hire all the old Black Isle Studios people and they could all learn something from each other and make a great game in the process.

I guess its a mute point though. If someone ever were to make the perfect game, then the game makers would be out of a job :-/ I guess that's why games are so short.

How about a Blade Runner-esque CRPG? If they were able to nail the atmosphere like they did with Fallout, tell me that wouldn't be freaking awesome!

Aw, who are we kidding? Bring on the Dungeons and Dragons. Go WotC!! Yeah!

A new Shadowrun game would be great.

Diablo 2 is pure shit by the way, the fun is to play online, but there is this bunch of swell guy playing like 10 hours a day, so by the time you get level 30 they are fuckin 90 with god items and shit.

An Old West CRPG would be neat, killing indians eh eh!

A Shadowrun CRPG would be pretty neato, but hard as hell to implement (well) and people would probably fuck it up, trying to appeal to the anime fanbase that likes that kind of stuff rather than the hardcore cultish following.

A (cartoon) Shadowurn movie would be better. There was talk of making one a few years back.

Arcanum city were great. But the caverns and sewers have shitty design. It's worst then lufia!!! The battle system is crappy and I can go on and on. I give it a 3 star, some aspect is so great I could not believe it, but some are so "wrong". It needed more polish.

I was under the impression that KotoR's combat system was faux turn-based. Essentially. (Like Neverwinter Shite, or Starwars Gayaxies)

"Idle,idle,idle,idle,attack,idle,idle,dodge/pain animation from enemy's attack,idle,idle,idle." Etc.

You know how agent smith looked when he said "hate" his mouth contorted in a malicious snarl as he described how he hated being trapped in the matrix?

That's how I feel about games with combat systems like that.

I hate them. With a bloody passion. They're so boring and they make no sense. At all.

True turn based is a chronological breakdown of realtime events into intellectually palatable chunks. Real time games, true real time games force you to react and think quickly, even though you might not have optimal amounts of time to contemplate your strategy.

This pseudo turn based crap is just the most ridiculous aberration I've ever seen. It's ridiculously stupid.

... sorry about that rant....

Anyhow. What about it? What's the combat like in that game?

Uh, well.... It's quite the same as Dungeons & Drugeons stuff. D20, was it? You point and click and issue commands and stuff and then just... well, wait for the outcome.

Yea, might have been good if it wasn't console-only.
