<strong>[Game -> Mod News (DO NOT USE - use MOD > UPDATE instead)]</strong>

<html><body><P>The folks at <A HREF=http://www.shatteredoasis.jolt.co.uk/ target=_blank>Shattered Oasis</A>, the post apocalyptic mod for UT2003 (and PC Gamer’s March issue <A HREF=http://www.shatteredoasis.jolt.co.uk/Sc ... cgamer.htm target=_blank>mod of the month</A>), recently packed their bags and relocated to a new address. Today they announced they’re looking for more testers:</P><blockquote><em>We are finally ready to begin multiplayer testing.
<br>Byte has put together an IR waiting to be ran thru it's paces by some testers, but guess what we need testers :). If you think you have what it takes see this forum thread for details on how you can try your hand at testing. <A HREF=http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php ... did=259662 target=_blank>Apply to test for SO</A>

<br>We're looking for people who love to be apart of a team and like to see things done right, and aren't scared to voice their opinion on different issues(game related).</em></blockquote><P>Also, here’s a first look at the new nuclear winter type map in the works:</P><blockquote><center><A HREF=http://www.shatteredoasis.jolt.co.uk/Sc ... owedIn.htm target=_blank><img src=http://www.duckandcover.cx/madmaxrw/sha ... ody></html>

Looks solid, I might just have to get UT. Probly in the $15 range by now anyway. Anyone going to sign up for beta testing?

It's pretty good. I'm in the beta, and the last internal release has fully functioning bots, some new weapons and maps, and much better performance overall. Still, you need a beefy computer to handle some of those larger maps.

I went on their IRC channel once and had a chat with one of the developers. Their main accomplishment is addition of bots, the reason why this is their main accomplishment is because no one plays it online.

The mod sucks. Pretty bad.

Well axelgreese

all I can say is give the new version a shot when it comes out.

It will play a lot differently then the Alpha released in August

Aside from the addition of bots we have rewritten the entire codebase twice now for optimization. Adding in 2 gametypes and a couple new weapons. as well as some extra features.

I'll admit the alpha suffered some gameplay flaws but it served it's purpose for aquiring much needed feedback.

So before you just say "the mod sucks" and write it off, follow the development and give suggestions to help us make it better, keep in mind we're making something free for people to enjoy.

Mad max RW email me sometime we are in process of a new beta.
