Where did the music go?

Home of discussion, generally. If it doesn't go in any of the other forums, post it in here.

Not even in the World of Weird would that be possible.

He didn't say the music's good when the musician's dead, just that it's better.

Circulatory System, Xiu Xiu, Iron & Wine, The Microphones, Tom Waits, and Spoon are current acts or whatever that I enjoy.

Honorable mention: Elliott Smith just died, and Jeff Mangum doesn't do anything anymore, so I can't count 'em.

Out of curiousity, does Cat Steven's count? I mean he basically changed everything about himself so its like he died.

MurPHy wrote:Yeah, most modern music is pure ass. I say "most" because Metallica put out an album a little while ago, and it is pretty good. Too bad that only Frantic and St. Anger are the only really "good" songs on it. Everything else reminds me of Load and Reload. How 'bout you?

I was listening to some shitty 80s pop yesterday, voodoo, and thought of you ^-^

I don't really think any genre is superior to another just because it's in a certain genre. I like good music really. If you consider it shit it doesn't really matter, just more songs for me to rock out too. /,,/ PEACE!

p.s I watched mtv yesterday. It's weird? They were mixing some 80s stuff with modern stuff and making it faster, as well as mixing the videos. Nobody should have to listen to 'White Wedding' and 'Bootylicious' RMX :(

Because no one's making any good music. The bands in the early 90s that took over were good, and they had something to say. I don't care how much they whined, at least they weren't fabricated and lame. You can also blame the kids that listen to all that stuff. They like it only because they deem the person "sexy", "hot", etc. Nobody has good taste in anything. I don't know what the deal is. In order to hear a good song, you have to basically stalk the radio station DJs so they can stop playing that trash. I like Rammstein a freaking lot, but I only hear "Du Hast" on the radio like once every three months, but Limp Bizkit's cover of "Behind Blue Eyes" like every hour on more than one radio station. We should all take over the airwaves...
Just because you can play "Stairway to Heaven", it doesn't mean you're any good at playing guitar.
