The Fall screen shot
The Fall screen shot
Does no one else find that to be a decent screen shot? It looks great to me, although I can see where someone could come to the forgon conclussion that the graphics of 1995 are alive in that picture. Graphics from that era would never live up to this, it's just that 1995 was the last time most people had a half-decent post-appocolyptic semi-modern game AVALIBLE. It's got a beautiful sunset with golden fire skies, and a wide open view of a detailed landscape. Anyone else feel similarly?

It takes 42 muscles to frown, but only 4 to pull the trigger of a sniper rifle.

hmm.. good point.. it does require a bit of thought.. supose that's a difference in speech patterns.. as does finding how to edit it, as the edit button apparently only applies to the meat of the post, not it's pickets... but.. for clarification
Yes= Yes, this picture is good
No= The picture sucks
Oh, as I was reminded, it goes with a certain need to say that you can go everywhere you see in that picture without a loading screen.

I would rather loading screens than textures that are so flat they hurt, and graphics that truly could have been produced in 95.

Virtua Figher (released in 95) looks about as good, will probly play better, and well.. just look at that sunset.
Too bad I cant change my vote to no.

You expect to see lush arbories in the Arizona desert after a massive temperature spike? of course the ground will be flat. And you need a new moniter if those even look similar. The graphics are comparitive to the ashlands in morrowind in that screenshot, but with crisper edges.

Huh.. and you didn't even take the time to vote.. how unpatriotic, as I'm told... I know you'd stand out of the pole, and I don't suspect towards the top.. though you have a good point. Many new games are going to the flashy graphics to compensate for their... lacking areas.. rather like short men with big trucks..

Yay, more of Carstens SSE Forum FanBoyz to come to DaC and sell us all on The Fall yet again.
If you've ever played ANY OTHER game in your life, then you know these graphics are just not good looking enough to compete with todays standards, and to say otherwise is farcical. The objects are very low poly, the in-game characters are poorly modeled and textured, and you can tell the animation has potential to be very poor just by taking a gander at their choice of poses for such things as weapons firing...stiff as a board. The scenes have no depth...the shadows are faint as all hell...no contrast. You can tell the world clips fairly close to the camera(about 150 world-feet) as the background is then clearly visible (those mountains you see in the background are a part of the background texture, not modeled terrain...also notice the fog in a few of the shots). Some of the textures look straight out of the digicam. Someone needs to buy a book on color theory over there and add some life to that world.
No need to get defensive now, as this was my sincere, professional opinion citing real artistic issues with a real analysis. And as a gamer, it just does not excite me one bit, and really, thats who you need to appeal to...the gamer.
Oh, and to jump into the whole graphics vs. depth debate is just elitest bull so lets not bother with that angle.
Agreed?
Cheers

graphics really isnt all that important. It's a good tool for attracting customers or whatever.
Ofcoure a the feel of a game depends alot on graphics, but what really makes a game a success are the homosexuals...
With that i mean the plot and such, and the amount of probing needed to get the asses up.
but the fall sadly enough seem to be one of them games... you know, one of them which really dont cut it, it'll prolly feel only half done, and thus is'll be half fun but mostly boring.

@Evok- Hey, I'll accept that. I don't know much about graphics, it just looked good to me, but since you didn't answer like a prick, and actually gave some good reasons, it's all good.
Naw, I just think it was an incorrect decision to declare the screenshot shit, so I thought I'd get the view of the masses. I know that most of you aren't going to want The Fall, so why should I care? You're the ones missing out.
