My first movie was "Conan the Barbarian." Star Wars was boring until I was like 12.Mr Carrot wrote:When you were a kid did you want to watch requiem for a dream or fucking star wars.

Saying that Pokemon, DBZ, YuGiYo and all those other crappy shows are representative of anime as a whole is like saying that Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel is representative of the Fallout games as a whole, or that R.L. Stein's Goosebumps is representative of American literature. Try Cowboy Bebop. Try Serial Experiments: Lain. Try "censoring" Anthony some more. Do something to expand your horizons a bit.

Cowboy Beboy rocks man.
I saw the movie and one episode on tv. I found the series on dvd at my library, so I put the first one on hold. The episodes are called sessions. They've got something like 6 dvds with four sessions each. And other one with best sessions.
All you guys that are turned off by crappy DBZ anime, please check it out.
It's not the same.
There's some other anime movies that I haven't watched, but the guy who recommended Cowboy Bebop to me said they were good, so I'll list 'em. Oh yea, that guy also said the series was alot better than the movie.
Metropolis
Ninja Scroll
Princess Mononoke
I watched DBZ for a while when I was like 12. Like right when it first got popular over here. Then my dad told me to stop watching that stupid crap and brought home some good anime.
I forget what it was called now; it was so long ago.
I think it was 8man or 8ball or something. It's about a guy that has an 8 on his chest and does stuff.
Oh yea, Don't watch Battleship Yamamoto. I heard from this guy at the video rental place that it was good, but it sucked balls. It's old and badly dubbed and just really crappy. I think it's supposed to be a classic. And it seems really low-budget. It was really boring and I felt like crap for wasting my time watching it.
I don't even really remember what it was about anymore. Something about space and crap. My brain probably repressed it, because it was so painful.
Good brain.

I thought Mighty Max was good. But I was a kid. Invader Zim is pretty good too.Mr Carrot wrote: Again the shitest of anime is a fuck load better then anything western animation has put out since the early 90s. (SwatCats being pretty much the last gasp of "boys cartoons")
All of the other shows are fucking shit though. Plus there's no action-figure toy line from the shows, so what do kids play with? They're going to grow up to be psychos or something D:

Princess Mononoke was awesome, the animation was something to behold, the characters were well developed, and the music was awesome. Powerfull story to boot. It was an interesting journey into what I belive to be semi Japanese mythology, although I'm no authority on it. Anyways, I cant stress enough how much I loved the artwork.
Metropolis was ok from what little I saw when I caught the middle part on TV, but didnt look very special. Ninja scroll seems like a bunch of the samurais and ninjas bouncing around crap thats a dime a dozen these days, although I havnt seen it. For anyone interested, an anime called Hellsing was pretty awesome in my opinion, especially because of a good soundtrack and interesting mythology regarding vampires and Dracula being brought up all the time.

Hehe. I just remembered that one of my favourite cartoons movie series, back when I was a kid, was Silver. Silver was this bear hunting dog n stuff. It was cool. I still think so actually.. but its an anime anyway, so I digged on anime as well when I was a kid I do think that Silver is better then DBZ and Pokemon, since those two are just overhyped shit.
Silver had a nice story and wasnt silly shit with strange creatures coming out of an egg. I mean, that whole concept is just to get the kids along and buy the toys so they can "collect em all". DBZ is just wierd. One of my classmates has a DBZ book, he showed me a few pages of it yesterday... the main character was that black haired guy... donu his name. He was taking the off the underwear of some girl who was sleeping?! Then he ask her where her balls was when she woke up, so she shot him with an uzi or something like that, but he wasnt hurt all thta much since his skin was made of iron.... what?!?! That has got to be the strangest stuff to feed children.

Wait, Mighty Max...was that the one with the kid, and the bird, and the immortal barbarian guy? Because that showed ROCKED. I fucking loved it. Anyone who says "WESTAIRN CARTONS SUK" is being an ass--we pretty much invented the medium, and we still have a lot of talent in it. It's just anime tends to be more catered to adults, or at least that's the way things have been in the past.Megatron wrote:I thought Mighty Max was good. But I was a kid. Cowboy Bebop was kinda neat because it wasnt the usual anime dogshit, and was pretty fun. It's pretty much the only anime that doesnt suck.
The rest of anime is plum fucking stupid and annoying. Goddamn I hate that shit. AND THEN SHITHEADS PUT IT IN FUCKING GAMES ANDA<HSdjhaskjhafkjsdf
We shouldnt of stopped at Hiroshima.

I remeber watching that movie not to long ago, and i have to agree, it was a very good show, well developed and stuff like that. i also remember mighty max, but vagly. it was very good, or so i remembered. the one i remember the least is super simese pizza cat, i still remember a little but, but mostly the theme song. from what little a can grasp from that show i apperently liked it.

The art was good, but one might ask what the the organ worms that engulfed those that approached the leader of the boars.CloudNineGT wrote:Princess Mononoke was awesome, the animation was something to behold, the characters were well developed, and the music was awesome. The art was good. However, what the were the things that engulfed those that approached the leader of the boars? Were they parasitic worms? Some type of Sexually Transmitted Disease maybe?CloudNineGT wrote:Princess Mononoke was awesome, the animation was something to behold, the characters were well developed, and the music was awesome. The A-Team didn't kill people. You never caught on to that? That was one of their rules: no killing. Saving lives without taking lives.Silver wrote:Don´t forget MacGyver. The A-team sucked tho, out of the millions of rounds they fired, I didnt see anyone get shot.
Oh, and Hellsing is really good. Loved the music. Loved the plot. Loved Alucard's character design.
Mononoke Hime was good too. One of the few Miyazaki animes I have seen and liked. And the "organ worms" represented demon spirits or something of the sort.
