I enjoyed Call of Duty more then Half life actually. I ofcourse still eagerly await Stalker and Half Life 2. As for Halo, its not BAD, but I definetly think its way overhyped. The only time you get alot of REAL fun is in a LAN party which are pretty easy to setup if you have the right equipment. You don't even have to know the people, just advertise "Halo game party" and "If you build it, they will come." Other then that, go replay Half Life or buy CoD.

I keep hearing that Halo is overrated. I don't have an Xbox, so I can't say.

Vice City is the greatest game ever, though.

Eh, I can'T say much about Marathon to compare it with newer games, of course graphics are outdated, there is no Mouselook, but I played it a few weeks ago and I still had more fun with it then with HL or Halo.

Did you play base Tribes or a specific mod?
I played quite a bit of base initially, but it got kinda boring. I remember actually playing the demo on raindance for about a year before I ever picked up the game, so of course I wanted something a bit different.

I played a lot of Shifter mod. I found that mod to be really extensive and fun with the different turret building and enhanced classes, such as the Engineer and the Juggernaut (with the infamous Godhammer rockets).

How about you?

I never got into base, it always seemed too.. basic. I think I remember playing Shifter once or twice, and Annihilation. Mainly I played a mod called Nappy, at least I think that's what it was called. That might've just been the server. My friend cooked up a great mod called Nihility that never really got much attention, but they were doing things with that game that I never would have thought of.

I was on the #1 team in the main Shifter league for about 2 years. I've been playing Tribes Shifter about 3 hours a day from 1998-2003. I'll PWN you. (At least, I would if I still played the game)

Anyway, every mod except Shifter and Renegades is for noobs, though I never touched Renegades since it's basically a dumbed down version of Shifter.

Well this is badass. I'm glad other people played Shifter.

What do you think of Tribes 2? I've barely played it. It's just so....slow. Tribes 1 is much bouncier.

Is there a Shifter mod for Tribes 2?

I played Shifter Tribes for about 2 years and about the same hours a day you did. Really good times, that was. I remember I was really good at that game, although I never played in a clan.

What character class did you prefer to use in Shifter?

Too bad all the original Tribes people got laid off, Interplay style.

Anyway, for all of you who have never played Tribes, I highly, HIGHLY recommend Tribes 1 over Halo. Christ, you can pick it up for $10 at Wal-Mart. Why the hell wouldn't you buy it?

When you have hundreds of people still playing a multiplayer-only game that came out in 1998 you know you've got something awesome.

Well, if you were so good at shifter, what clans were you in, if any. What names did you use?

Anyway, I mostly played Dread/Merc/Engi.

And Tribes 2 is the worst game I've ever played. I can't believe Sierra tricked me into buying it! I can't wait for Tribes: Vengeance to crash and burn. That'll teach them!

I never really got into Tribes 2 either. But I think there's a Shifter mod for it. I agree that the feeling of Tribes 2 is different than that of Tribes. The addition of land vehicles made me happy, though. I wasn't a fan of Tribes' vehicles.

I went by Neon Dingo or FugiinX. I was in a clan called "X" for a brief period of time. They were pretty ubiquitous across all the mods, really, but I never really felt much of a reason to be in a clan because I never played in clan matches for more than 2 or 3 times.

We might've played each other. Who knows? I usually stuck with one server that had a consistently good ping.

Do a lot of people still play Tribes? I'm thinking of starting again. I am really wanting something fun to play that's online. Day of Defeat isn't nearly as fun as Tribes.

Call of Duty kicks ass, really. Well the multiplayer isn't all that good (HL Firearms/ HL counterstrike copycatting...) but the single player is GOLDEN as long as you follow the "script" and don't try to explore the limits of the maps.

One thing particularly innovative about Call of Duty multiplayer is the replay feature. Am I the only one here that absolutely loves that shit?

I can't think of any other game that has that.

Yeah... For me it always prooves how fucking bad my hiding skills are. "Hehehe, now I'm behind these rocks, no one can see me while I'm this low on the ground, hehehe!" and on the replay of my death I can see clearly how my legs below the knees are sticking out behind those rocks. Crap!

Just finished Halo, the last HALF of the game sucks. I'm probably going to return it and buy Max Payne 2 now.

Don't be disappointed. MP2 ain't nearly as good as the original. And it's *really* short, too. I finished it in two days.

Exactly how short is it? I hear many good things about the game, and it sounded like a good buy.

I've got the Max Payne 2 demo and it's not that great. I still play the Dead Man Walking mode from time to time, but I can never last longer than seven minutes without Polyphonic Spree on WinAmp. Fucking scary.

Like I said, I finished it in two days. The graphics aren't anything special either, unlike MP1, which was spectacular for it's time.

And by the way, it's "Endure. In enduring, grow STRONG." I just love Dak'kon.

Indeed, Max Payne 1's graphics were and still are breathtaking. But I was wondering more about it's gameplay than it's length. I can beat Fallout 1 in a day, but It's still one of my favorite games.

Dak'Kon was my favorite character as well. I especially liked his past, and how he knew one of your past reincarnations in PS:T.

But action games follow a linear path that is aggressively moved through. Fallout can be beaten in a day, but it has replay value. Action games don't, with a few possible exceptions, none of which come to mind.
