Fallout Tactics CD Lasting Longer Tip !

Post by [Roe] Snake »

Hey Guys,

Have a little trick to save your Fallout Tactics CD's from wearing off.

You copy Each CD to a folder on your Harddrive, for example:

CD#1: Fallout Tactics\FOT_01
CD#2: Fallout Tactics\FOT_02
CD#3: Fallout Tactics\FOT_03

Then when you're running the install from your Hd, it will run faster and second, when you're playing single player or on-line you wont have to put in the CD's, so your FOT CD's won't wear out so fast...

Just a little trick I've learned... Or did you guys already know this ?

Greetz,

Snake

P.s: I've had my FOT CD's for 3 years or something and not a scratch on them... They are holy !

Also... On a quick note

When you guys are unpacking the *.BOS files, first unpack them, then run the up-dates 1.25 & 1.27... unpacking after up-dating will take away the whole point of the up-date since you'll unpack files that were up-dated :D

Alot of people forget this...

Too late to save my cds I've just split my disc 1. I can still use one of the other cds to play, but I can't reinstall until I get my other copies back.

Why be so careful with your disks when you can get a new copy from eBay for $15 or less?

(I say $15 because its $10 plus $5 shipping, at most)

Well, its not that great a deal but im sure you could find it in bundles for cheap and get new games to play to boot.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... gory=62053

That is one of the better auctions for it right now but it will go up to $10 or so by the end.

Give it some time though and you will see it for $5 and less. Its not exactly a very popular game anymore.

I burn copies of mine. The original got messy so I had to buy the Radioactive bundle which sits comfortably inside its box.

Yeah, that sounds cool. What is the radioactive bundle? I'll check on eBay.

Hmm.. Couldn't find it. Must be outside the United States. I know that Canada and other places have great deals on computer game bundles.

I've even seen a The Sims bundle (with all the expansions) on eBay (from Canada) for like $30 plus shipping. Whereas the expansion packs still sell for $20 to $30 each at Wal-Mart. That really stinks. Don't they realize that people in the US like bargains too?

I'm thinking of buying FOT new and leave it rapped in plastic just to have a clean copy :D

I don't what it is... but FOT just keep interesting me and it's my most valueable game I ever played...

Guess I like the idea of tactical combat RPG.

i dont see why you guys have so much trouble with your cd's if you just keep them in the cases or a cd book then the cd's should be fine i have had the original cd's from when the game first came out and there's not a scratch on em.

I don't have scratches on them I just know that when I use it to much they will wear off and since my computer keeps crashing windows every week, I need to reinstall windows + everything on it... so I just put the FOT cd's to the HD and never used the cd's since...

Fallout Radioactive. All three games(FO1, FO2, FoT) and the price was good. Also has all the patches I think, plus you automatically get the bonus CD for FoT. Basically , my FoT interest derived from Fallout, so I wanted to keep them all in one place(have had problems with FO too. No wonder since it was one of the first dual Dos/Win95 games).

Fallout is the first game I've ever finished, so it has an emotional value of a kind to me. There are other games I never had time to finish(e.g. Bard's Tale series) and can't really put up with their graphics now. Basically, you have Software piracy gallore here. I used to have pirated copies of software. I went legal for games like Fallout, Xcom and MoO. So the fate of their company creators saddens me.

It's been at least a year since FO:Radioactive was released though, it might be out of the market now. Also I'm guessing you couldn't find it in a place like E-bay. I'd sell them seperatelly.
