Dawn of the Dead Homepage Launched

Post by Mad Max RW »

[Community -> Update]

I’m a fan of the old George Romero zombie flicks and the remake for Dawn of the Dead looks like it might actually be good. At least it can’t be as bad as most of the half assed zombie movies from the late ‘80s to early ‘90s. Anyway, the official homepage opened today. It has a couple trailers and bunch of other things to familiarize you with the movie and its history.

Check it out. You might like it.

Yeah its cool they are doing remakes .. BUT ... from what i saw in the full trailer a while back, the zombies can run now. Not sure what that will do for suspense.

Cool page nway

28 days later had awesome zombies, and they could run. Still, you loose the shambling horror element of suspense.

Yeah. I saw running zombies in the old trailer. There's a new longer one on the site and it shows a huge group of the classic slow moving lazy zombies.

Return of the Living Dead had running zombies too I think. Anyway my girlfriend wants to go see this, so I'm going whether I like it or not.

FFS 28 days later wernt zombies, they were people infected by a virus, hence they got tired, starved to death and could be killed by just general normal killing methods.

I can't wait to see that movie, I love the old one.. Night of the Living Dead is still my favorite though...
It takes 42 muscles to frown, but only 4 to pull the trigger of a sniper rifle.

I'm interested in this, but NOTLD remains my favourite.. *grins*

Gratuitous violence (not to mention nicely done), surprisingly graphic evil-child scene, and a few nice cabin-fever style panic attacks.

I agree its pretty much the best. I also like the remake, despite it being villified by all and sundry, the character reamaginings are great as is the fact its the only zombie film ive seen where a character uses a ladder to escape the zombie menace (why the basement why? just take out the staircase!!!).

Looks good. I saw some promotional event for it last weekend. Of course, any zombie movie is cool in my book.

Yeah, but they're still zombies in the deformed, infectious, people-eating sense of the word.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

I hope this one doesn't have that formidable 45 minutes in the middle where nothing really happens. I'm a fan of zombie movies, but the shambling has never seemed "suspenseful" to me. It just gives the protagonist that much more time to run away/decide what to bash the zombie's skull in with. Day of the Dead is my favorite of the Romero trilogy. None of them really shone in the pacing or plot department, and the 3rd had the best special effects.

Worst case scenario is more of a comedy i think, the first trailer released made that pretty clear :) "Then, they stole our beaches" etc, showing fat german tourists eating junkfood on a beach.

And for the new Dawn of the dead movie; A PREGNANT WOMAN??!!

What are the odds? ;)

Since we are on the topic of zombie flicks, i wanna reccommend a very funny and original Australian zombie-comedy "Undead"

It has killer zombie fish :)

Zombies should be slow. There's just something about the whole, they're zombies - only they're FAST thing that just seems stupid to me. It almost reminds me of the it's a viscious man eating predator in the wild - only it has HUMAN INTELLIGENCE thing, which I find annoying. A shark should be scary enough as it is, making it smart doesn't make it any scarier to me.

Yeah the thing about slow zombies is they are 100% set on getting to you, no matter how slow they are. Often, the only real way to dispose of them is a bullet in the head, and that is assuming you actually have a weapon and can aim it. With shaky hands.

In Romeros movies the zombies only had basic instincts left, and grouping seems to have been one of them. As the population is slowly infected in crowded populated areas ( 3 day infection time ), in the end it doesnt really matter how slow moving they are. In dawn of the dead, the infection had spread quite a bit, and no one really noticed untill California had been overrun. Hospitals were probably overcrowded with patients suffering from weird sympthoms, and BAM! ... breeding ground for the infection.

Just trying to come up with some sense of a totally fictional situation :)

I think the remake looks a little chit? What's up with all the survivors? Is Ice T in it? Running Zombies?

I think the running zombies are there becuase they've recently been killed, though I prefer shambling zombies as you can see more make-up and have better hordes.

The bunch of zombies in the car park looked a lot better than in the original though.

The pregnant woman also looks fucking stupid. Zombie babies? Shut up thnx.

I think a ravenous, bloodthirsty creature who just wants to rip someone apart is more effective than an intelligent monster.

It pervays that sense of "raw and unfiltered fear" very well, and brings into our minds thoughts of what really frightens us. Giving that wild creature a brain makes it similar to us, and in that way we can forget the fact that he wants to eat the flesh off of our bodies.

Hopefully, they thought in a similar way while creating the film. In any case, it can't be worse than
House of the Dead, another failed Game-to-Movie deal.

I think Lovecraft had the right idea on fear. Our strongest feeling is fear, and the worst kind of fear is it's most terrifying form.
Endure. In enduring, grow strong.
