trythebill at the library all night: recommend books for him

Post by trythebill »

since i have 3 tests tomorrow i'm going to be here studying all night. i have redbull, back-up pens and lots of notebook paper. i just need something to do for my 15 minute study break every half-hour.

recommend me some interesting books to look at while i'm here. i don't care what they're about so long as they are interesting.

Starship Troopers, Robert Heinlein; Steppenwolf, Hermann Hesse; The Jesus Incident, Frank Herbert; or, my personal #1 suggestion

The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead by Max Brooks

The Zombie Survival guide was awesome. A few good books just off the top of my head include I Will Fear No Evil, The Godmakers, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Dracula, Stranger in a Strange Land, Shogun, The Lazarus Effect, Time Enough For Love, A Canticle for Leibowitz, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Dune, and The Bridge of the Gods.

Whatever happened to that DAC book club that Killzig talked about a long time ago? That was a good idea. Maybe we could put it into action and dedicate a bit of the forum to it. There could be a book of the month and people could read it and then argue about/discuss it. Sounds fun to me.

The Art of War, The Kama Sutra, and the Anarchist's Cookbook.

Anyone else want to beat the shit out of these kids putting Anarchist Society symbols all over? Just press their face into one until they can tell you why that's an oximoron?

Hmm... 1984 was awesome. I enjoyed Dune I and the last book I read was Jennifer Government - cool book about anti-gobalization.

The original Dune was great. Messiah was OK. Children of Dune lost the plot and sucked monkey balls.

Uhh, so you're studying 30 minutes straight, then taking a 15 minute break, ad nauseum? Maybe you should go for, say, 45/15?

try not studying at all and be l33t. Day of the Triffids is good. Dark Tower series is good. The Long Tommorow and The Eternity Brigade are awesome.
i just finished reading The Vault of the Ages by Poul Anderson which was pretty damn good.

Glenn Cook's Black Company series.
Any Lovecraft collection.

There are many books I could advise you to read, if you could tell us what genre of literature you prefer, we could give you a better answer.

Billboard's Book of Number 1's. Collection of number 1 hits since the beginning of time, pretty much.

Hearts in Atlantis by Stephen King.

45 minutes is too long. ideally it should be 20/10 study/rest but i never get anything done when i do that. i find the 30/15 works best for me.

Agreedish. I thought Children was still pretty good.. I got up towards the end of God Emperor and I was getting twitchy with how weird it had gotten. I'll finish the series sooner or later.
