Just because you're paranoid

Post by Wolfman Walt »

Doesn't mean their not after you <a href="http://www.prisonplanet.com/022904rfidt ... de.html</A>

Heres an interesting experiment for some of you to try. Microwave one of the new twenty dollar bills. You might get an interesting suprise in the form of a bang. Apperantly the US government has installed microchips in the right (I think) eye of Jackson to keep track of the cash. Just an interesting tid-bit, but even so, is such government control a good thing? Discuss!

While it does sound intriguing, I'm not a conspiracy theory nut who throws money in my microwave to see if it pops. How did they first discover this? Do people normally microwave their money?

Read the article.
Dave and I have brainstormed the fact that most items can be 'microwaved' to fry the 'rfid' chip, thus elimination of tracking by our government.

So we chose to 'microwave' our cash (...)
I really don't see what's the point. All electric 'cash' moving around is quietly watched by people above us all the time, no news there, so what does it matter if they'll start following 'normal' cash flow as well? Bigger purchases made today are almost always made with checks, credit cards etc. which leave an obvious trace, so what would be the use of following around every single 20$ ?

Is there any other way to disable whatever is inside the bill, without destroying it? A hammer perhaps?

If anyone knows please post it here.

No. Assuming that the "chip" is a paper-thin strip/square of metal, it will NOT melt in a microwave. The will however be sparks and extreme heat. Try putting a fork in the microwave for a minute. Watch to see what happens.

Exactly. Who's to say it's a chip exploding? All metal fucks up shit in the microwave, and 20's have had metal in them for a long time. Who's to say that putting metal in paper in the microwave won't start a little mini explosion? Oh wait, it would whether or not it's a super secret traqueing chippe. Whatever, like they'd know who's got the money anyway? Stupidcore.

What possible uses could there be for that?

For something that small and (key word when your dealing with the U.S. Gov't) cheap to be of any use at all, it would have to be "scanned". Remember those veri-chip thingies you could get planted in your skin (whatever happened to those? they ever getapproved?)? They actually got their power from radio waves from a scanner passed a few inches above, and used that power to transmit a few Kb of data back to the scaner. Thats the only way something like this could function. Which means that theres no satellites tracking your movement, blah blah blah.

And since someone would have to scan it to be of any use, they've allready got physical access to the cash, which means if this were ever used for anything, it might be a small scanner behind the registers at the local 7-11 to make sure the cash is legit. perhaps keeping some form of record as to when this bill was scanned so if it turns out to be fake they've got a better idea of who might have passed it.

I think I'll file this under "doesn't matter unless you're trying to make counterfiet money, you naughty boy you".

be carefull with crap like that... Now adays if some jackass actually does that and winds up with a microwave exploading in their face, they could probably sue yer ass :P.

I microwaved a CD, it's pretty fun watching it melt and break.

Anyway, the fuck we care about chips in our 20 bills? They burned at least 80 fuckin $!

I wonder if Canadian 20$ bills are like that too?

I read in a magazine that actually suggested microwaving your cds for a few moments to get rid of minor scratches. Weird.

Eww, don't do that, I can assure you your CD will be fucked. Except if a few moments means like 2 seconds?

The CD I heated at first broke in the same way a glass would after getting hit by a small rock, then it started melting and it became limp and near liquid in some places.

Yea they said roughly 3 seconds would do it. Ofcourse I'm not suggesting anyone to nuke their cds, but apperantly it does work.

no, they arent. they use an ink system for the bills. you really have to try to copy the ink they use plus they have this ink dobber stuff they dot on the bills that only shows up under a special light.
