Kinda weird how they're lowering the age to 21.

" Singer and Silver are lowering that age to 21, as it was in the William Nolan novel, which means a showy role for a young actor." Looks like they're just changing it back?

Ehhh... I donno I haven't seen either of the XMen movies, so I can't say whether or not I like the idea? Mmmm... could theortetically be pretty cool though, if they make the world look as interesting as they say they are.

How is having seen Xmen or not relevent to restoring the original age of the characters in Logans Run?

For that matter, is it really an idea that makes or breaks the movie? Its quite arbitrary to even mention, only to state as they did that it is a cool opportunity for a younger actor. Otherwise be it 30 or 21 or 18 it doesn't change the movie on any significant level.

CHOICE of young actor though is relevent so lets hope for a good choice.

Cheers

Why can't Hollywood just come up with a few new and decent movie ideas instead of making lame remakes?

They ought to bring back Michael Caine as the old dude living in the ruins of Washington D.C.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Better that than churning out shitty remakes of his old films!

Recent examples:-

- "The Italian Job"
- "Get Carter"

What next - remakes of "Zulu" and "The Man Who Would Be King"??

I liked the original movie and series alot and used to be a big fan but.....they really sucked. It isn't worth making a sequel out of.

Possibly to appeal to a different demographic. Times have changed...

I don't know why anyone would want to re-make LR, but if they do it right, and not like Planet of the Apes(ugh...), it could turn out all right.

I liked the remake of PotA. What's wrong with it?

First thing that pops into my mind is the hilariously bad ending, that was nowhere close to the original's.

Plus, the ape said "You damn dirty Human", warping it the other way. It was more appropriate for a slightly younger audience, or at least that's how it came across to me.

Holy crap, that movie wasn’t even good to begin with. Fantastic it was though, especially with the freeze frame explosion at the end. I'm not complaining about remaking it, sounds cool, but will movie producers ever come up with a good original idea again?

Actually, by doing that they're getting back to the way it originally was in the novel from what I understand. Edit: As SuperH already pointed out.

My question about this is, "Exactly what are they going to do to it?" I haven't read the novel, so I don't know how far the original film version was from it. (Apparently the film diverged from the novel quite a bit in the latter portion.) Think about it, how many people sit down and watch the original and pick up on the fact that it was essentially '70s attitudes about Astrology, the Sexual Revolution, and the obsession w/youth ("Don't trust anyone over 30.") and filtering them through a distorting lens of sci-fi?

While some of these themes like the obsession w/youth are very much relevant today, it would either need to be updated/repackaged, or...something.

Not to mention that someone's involvement w/an X-men flick makes for dubious movie-making credentials... :confused2:

Is anyone surprised that I won't be adding this to my "must see" film list for '04?

Yeah, they were a bit cheesy. Weren't they?

Then again, Battlestar Galatica falls into that whole "so deeply rooted in the '70s it's pathetic" niche and it's still getting Hollywood attention.

They'll be doing that soon enough, old fruit! Nothing is sacred, not even The Lady Killers... :dizzy:

Yeahhh... I wasn't referring to the age at all. It's being made by the X-Men people, that's why it's relevant.

Cool. Its just that you specifically quoted the line about them changing the age, and commented on 'the idea'....just assumed(by your choice of quote) that you meant the idea of the 'age change', not the idea of Singer doing LR.

*shrugs*

Heh, yeah they were two separate thoughts ;) Linebreak was supposed to clear that up, lol. Anyway-

I'd say that the idea for the movie doesn't seem great, and if they're going to try to carry it all on a raft of "A world never seen before" why bother making it logan's run? Again, whatever, heh I'll wait to see it :D
