Thats one of the areas where i think the devs thought they were dealing with kids. This kind of nonsensical player progression blocking is outdated. Ok, the bridge exploded. Convenient, but understandable. But they overdid it with the tunnel and the subway. Blocking off everything that could lead to the other locales was dumb. Very dumb.

If at least blocking player progression wasn't so simplified it could've been better tolerated. They could've placed some workers around the bridge, some construction machinery, for instance.
San Andreas _does_ seem like a good place to end the series(as it was the last city in GTA1) though.

I just hope they remember the series` roots and keep the missions interesting and fun, like the original game's were. I could die over and over again, and I'd still be having fun.
I think they managed to whip up some interesting missions in Vice City. Photographing the corrupt senator, saving Love Fist from the car bomb, intimidating people (juries, guy in the golf course, warning shop owners in the mall), All Hands on Deck, Cop Land, Cap the Collector, Keep you Friends Close..., and the bank job, were all very good. I also liked GTA3's mission of killing the witness (the guy being transported in that solid cast).
Anyway, I'm just glad the new GTA will take place currently instead of in the 80s or the 70s. I didn't like the theme too much, but it was interesting for a while.
It would rock in the 70's. Literally. :joy:

True, that. They should also handle some of the bad collision detection (more visible in GTA3 than in VC, though).

For those who are interested, this is the last GTA with the renderware engine on the PS2. GTA"5" will having something entirely new and be a PS3 launch title (goes without saying eh?). So yea, graphics will probbably leap up 10 fold, since the GTA games are NOT pretty games on a localized level.

They should improve the series. The vehicle stuff is alright, but they should improve, in particular, the boats and on foot stuff. Boatriding sucks, due to poor and/or little control involved. Its very hard to steer. I don't know if its realistic but this is one case in which fun should outweigh realism.

Onfoot is alright. But that's as far as that goes. Give me a good interface like resident evil. Heck, make the people look better, put in some sims-like interactions, more freeform play (get a family, etc..) and it'd be a lot more fun. The pointless story is usually not very good anyway. They should focus more on the gameplay and comical stuff (like the rocker guys with the car bomb). When someone calls you just to cuss you out its like the game loses its mood. Stuff like this should be funny, not serious.

Well anyway the makers should realism that playing a game is all about fun. Put in more uses for money (permanent car upgrades, bikes, etc.. Even a bigger life meter and stuff that you can purchase like that. I hate collecting money just so you can lose it or spend it on pointless objectives).

It also kinda sucks losing all your stuff and vehicles, etc.. when you die. They should let you keep one car (even if it explodes) as your customized vehicle. Or have a shop where you go purchase these kits and when you drive a car in it, it attaches all the kits you've purchased (with no need to buy the kits again). Stuff like the taxi-cab jump in vice city, but for all cars.

Anyway, they should focus more on freeform gameplay than story. Since when the missions are done, you're just going to do the freeform stuff for a very long time. And no more cussing from your character when you run into stuff. Its just dumb.

A different era, set further back in time would be much cooler. Imagine a wild west GTA.. err.. you say its all about stealing cars? Oh.. :-)

Well you could have a horse, be a freelance mercenary, hunt down robbers and stuff. It'd be fun. You'll know what im talking about if you ever played Zelda: OOT and enjoyed riding horseback while shooting the boy.

People could make really cool games but they just don't explore all their options.

I always disliked RE's take on the time it took to turn the whole character to a direction before i can go somewhere, mainly because it was very slow for me. I don't know how GTA/VC handled it on console, but on the PC, moving was quite fast because i just moved the mouse quickly.

I think thats a bad idea. Vehicules aren't everlasting, thats one of their aspects. Upgrading something which you'll be crashing 5 minutes later doesn't really seem well adjusted, in my opinion. Including some temporary bonuses to the vehicules sounds better than shelling out bucks for such a short-lived thing as a vehicule.

In GTA3 if you have maximum health and get a hooker in your car, she'll pump up your health to 120 temporarily (that is, until you lose it). While increasing your life bar doesn't seem bad (it'd definetely help), i think it might alloe the game to be too easy. Then again it depends on the growth system used on it.

And i'd hardly call spending money on save points and increased income to be pointless. Save points scattered around the map are useful, and i know i needed that money to buy weapons. O'course there comes a time where you can just collect packages and get weapons in your "base".
A different era, set further back in time would be much cooler.
I'm still hoping there's a remake of London, possibly in the 70's.

Hijacking horses and coaches, eh? :)

As a side note, i'm still waiting for them to include a handglider, though.

Sounds like the fobos of the gta series. A wild west gta where you have a family?

The boat was easy to control. You don't really need to use them though, even when you do it's only good to cross the water near a certain area. It was fun for a while to jump onto other boats and be a pirate, otherwise I wasn't too bothered.

The on-foot stuff was fine. Combat should be a bit more than running round in circles with auto-aim though. I'd like to see the streets with a lot more cars and people during the day, but if I gave all the features I wanted this post could go on for a bit.

You could save your game with a garage and weapons. I'm not too bothered about a custom car, seems a bit 2 furious matey. Realism would suck in this game. A realistic funny game? I thought it was funny consistently, I'd rather have some semi-serious missions so I feel more like a criminal than the postal dude.

I'd like to see this game with fewer, deeper missions with more alternative styles. I think the bank-job mission in vice was the best out of gta3 and vice. Mabye have a random mission generator for the smaller missions, like killing people or collecting shit. I'd like this to be more like the first game, with the garages and gang metre of the second and all the other stuff of vice.

Perhaps more cars could litter the streets on a "harder" difficulty?

GTA:VC seemed more like a giant mod of GTA3, anyway. I hope something really new and interesting is backing GTA:SA
