It looks very cool, but there like checkpoints with a cop which would ruin the whole experience. Also its prolly cold there, it would be nice to have it in California. Wouldn't the girl get radiation from going in the houses?

Yup. On her webpage she tells how a doctor told her it was all safe to walk around in open-air, but the danger lied in wait inside the houses. "Going in one of the houses with out a radiometer would be like walking on a minefield without a mine detector."

I bet you say that of all girls you see wearing leather and a rad counter.

Don't you want some real life sloppy ghoul action??

The moral of this sad story is it's okay to use shoddy materials and a dodgy design if you're building a bird table for a school project, but you better do a bang up job when you're building a fucking nuclear power station!

Wow. Fantastic site. It must really be creepy to walk those streets... jus tthe thought of a city, with noone there... no life. Just a frozen memory of the people who lived there. Crazy.

Actually, the Chernobyl-reactor is one of the most steadiest builds of nuclear reactor designs, it was the maintenance / operating that caused the accident, if I remember correctly. I think there are a couple of those similar (read: identical) reactors here in Finland too, but there has been no sign of danger yet. :confused2: I guess.

The russians had to skimp on a lot of things like maintaining power plants and basic infrasturcture type shit because they were still in a very expensive arms race with the US who because of an open market and greater wealth were way way ahead

I have some relatives who lived about 70 miles from it, fairly scary. Might have had some friends in the area, dont remember, LONG time ago.

Man, my grandmother remembers the months after that seemily cool and crappy event. 'shrooms a plenty, you couldn't walk outside without stepping on one of the mushrooms.

She almost ate one too. Those commies, being commies didn't tell anyone within the Iron Curtain what happened. This was in Estonian, which, by my estimate is a bit far from the Ukraine.

Estonia? Hmm.. So Kash, are we like.. Dawgs or something?

Palun, Kash? WE BE D@WGZ? :confused2:

Radiation caused shrooms? Or was this unrelated to the radiation? If it is related, thats almost an interesting/odd parallel, what with the shape of an atomic explosion and all.

Sense we are now off topic, are the Finns racially Urgaic(or Finnic, but is that a racial group)?

My ancestors come from southern Moldova, quite a few of them worked in the Ukraine at the time though. Scary times.

Finns and Estonians are pretty much the same thing, actually ;) Our languages are very similar, pretty much like Swedish versus Danish. Other close "relatives" to the Finnish race are the Hungarians and several nomadic (or less nomadic) tribes living around Western-Asia and Siberia (ie. Russia).

Finns are Ugric, true, but the people who live in Finland these days are pretty much a mix-up of the Slavic, Germanic, Baltic *and* Ugric blood. East-Finland is more leaned towards the Slavic culture, West is more Germanic-oriented, South is a combination of the two and North has it's own, pretty much isolated population/culture/racial background.
