Post by Chaos »

I read somewhere on another post that there were sloped vent/metal tiles can someone tell me where they are located in the editor?

I second that question.

Under Industrial/objects/stairs/vent stairs IIRC.

Yes, but those are stair tiles, aren't they? I don't want the tiles to "behave" like stairs.

Are you saying you don't want the characters to use them to ascend to a different level? Or are you saying that you're afraid they will use them like a ladder? I know they will behave oddly on stairs (sticking to the leftmost side). Is that what you mean?

At any rate, whether a character decides that uneven terrain is stairs or not, they will always go about crossing it in a peculiar way (see High Noon for its quirky sidewalks). So you'll just have to live with that, or make your ramped sections smaller.

If im not mistaken, you can always use the edit (?) menu, with the tiles in question selected, to untag them as climbable. Then the characters would see the terrain as any other terrain, climbing over it where possible.

Hopes. Dreams. You have to live these things. If not, they will remain prisoner within the confines of your mind for the rest of your life.

Yep.

At any rate, I went with this solution.

Which looks visually better of all the previous I have to say.
Nice name for Wasteland map. I named mine Brother in Arms(exclusive copyright, violators will be instantly shot) :eyebrow:

Check out my yahoo site for weapons fx if you want something different. I'm bored with seeing the same stuff. I'll use some in BiA or other maps.(I only have 2 in the site). Pretty easy to do them as well.

Hmm I must of missed this last time I was logged on, actually the sloped vents are already flagged as floor tiles rather than as stairs. So they act as proper slopes. And the effect of the actors running up one side of the tile isn't limited to stairs, they do that when stepping up all tiles, you just notice it more with staircases as most people make their stairs narrower than they usually make their slopes.
