know anything about the Masonic Order? educate me within.

Post by trythebill »

the recent news article about a guy getting shot in the noggin during a masonic ritual spiked my interest. since i know nothing about the masons i am curious if anyone here can give me a little bit of info. apparently my great-grandfather was one but my parents don't want to talk about it, which is annoying and screams of interesting stories.

masons are a bunch of secretive bastards who keep their own little bible no one is allowed to read. my step moms father is one and he gets uber perks from it. slap the sticker on your bumper and learn a hand signal and you can get into anywhere easy.

There is a lot of ground to be covered about the Masonic Order, any specific points you want covered? For now a website will say a lot more than I’m willing to type.

Problem is, there is almost nothing actually written by them that just anybody can read because of their secrecy and system of initiation. Because of this, its hard to know if you’re getting a straight story or some crazy bullshit conspiracy nuts and religious zealots are writing.

Hehe yes, I love the rotten library. It's got loads of easily accessible information, the site's simple and easy to read plus I also really like their writing style. I find most of the stuff there interesting too - a good site overall.

The thing that strikes my fancy is how secretive, yet widespread it is. Plus, Benjamin Franklin was one of them, and Benjamin Franklin was freakin superman. Count me in!

Hmm, so they originated from the Knights Templar? Cool.

Seriously, joining the Masonic Order sounds almost profitable. The amount of people who were members that were involved in creating this America is staggering, and tons of influential/famous people were Freemasons too. I almost want to join, though my head tells me that crazy cults should be avoided. Here’s a list of people who were freemasons courtesy of the fantastic rotten.com

Benedict Arnold
Napoleon Bonaparte
Henry Ford
Barry Goldwater
Jesse Helms
J. Edgar Hoover
Houdini
Joseph Smith
Brigham Young
Oscar Wilde
Mark Twain
John Glenn
Samuel Hahnemann
Charles Lindbergh
All seven of the Ringling Brothers.
Colonel Sanders
Dave Thomas
Telly Savalas
Peter Sellers
Strom Thurmond
William Walker
Sir Winston Churchill
Aleister Crowley
U.S. Chief Justice Earl Warren
Roberto Calvi
George Washington
John Hancock
Patrick Henry
Benjamin Franklin
Paul Revere
Ethan Allen
Thomas Jefferson, likely a Mason.
Gerald Ford
William McKinley
James Garfield
Theodore Roosevelt
Franklin D. Roosevelt
Harry S Truman
Warren G. Harding
William Howard Taft
Andrew Johnson
Andrew Jackson
James Knox Polk
James BuchananLyndon B. Johnson was a first degree Mason.
Ronald Reagan was an honorary Scottish Rite Mason, but not a Freemason.

That's one hell of a list. I wonder what the fuck happened to this order though, seeing the rejects that inhabit it now [in reference to the article TrytheBill is talking about].

Oh wait, how silly of me. The new secret world order has taken its place...

THE JOOOOOS!

Descendants of the Templar Knights? That's kewl.
So are they holding the ark of the covenant, the excalibur and the holy grail in some underground vault or something? In United States? 'Cause that'd make a great tourist attraction.

Well, part of the whole mystery surrounding The Freemasons is the fact that you cannot just join them like you would, say, the Boy Scouts. I suppose that part of the allure of it is for that reason.

Hmm. It seems that all of the people on that list are well-to-do white men. So that counts me out. Oh well.

suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
