Hmm.. Well, Mr. Vancouver did something.. Can't put my finger on it exactly. What was it? Oh yeah!
He broke that guy's frigging neck!
Suspension for the season? Stop bitching, people. He shouldn't have hit that Colorado dude in the first place, too much goddamn testosterone. I would charge that guy in an instance, stupid fucking Canadian.

You crazy Europeans, never knowing what's happening on the other side of the world.
Bertuzzi's a mother-fucker who plays for the Vancouver Canucks, a hockey team on the Canadian Pacific Coast. In one recent game between the Canucks and Colorado Avalanches, (Screw spelling.) Mr. Political Prisoner, Bertuzzi, he punched a guy in the head from behind. The Avalanche player goes down and falls on the ice, with his head hitting it in a wanky way -- thus breaking it.
Bertuzzi was suspended for the entire hockey season and criminal charges may very well be placed.
Criminal charges or not, I want to know Don Cherry's commentary!

Bullshit. You make it sound like Bertuzzi grabbed him by the throat and intentionally snapped his spine. Shit, it wasn't even that hard of a hit. It was just an unlucky angle. Bad luck for everyone.Mr. Green wrote:Hmm.. Well, Mr. Vancouver did something.. Can't put my finger on it exactly. What was it? Oh yeah!

If the Colorado player had gotten up and fought back, no one would have cared. It wasn't a particularly bad hit, just unlucky. Eh, hockey is violent. My heart goes out to the player that has to fight through the injury, but to me it is just part of the game. Now, if Bertuzzi had smacked him in the neck with his stick or pushed him full-speed into the boards(where the intent for really bad injury is obvious), then I would have a problem. But just punching a guy in the back of the head with a glove on and having him fall badly isn't that big of a deal. If Bertuzzi really intended to hurt him, he wouldn't have dropped his stick and hit him with a glove.
Not saying that Bertuzzi didn't deserve some kind of suspension or punishment for this. Just that he shouldn't be demonized so much. You people are acting like he is Satan himself or something.

which soccer league? the english premiership, scottish leagues, irish, spanish, italian, german, french, champions league?
my brother supports arsenal in the premiership, i dont support anyone in any of these leagues, in fact i prefer to support irish sports, like hurling and gaelic, much tougher sports than pussy soccer and faster and harder than rugby. Plus its Oirish http://www.gaa.ie/
Hockey A Loser
Hockey A Loser
Pro hockey in North America is a money LOSER.
The average loss per team is about 10 million dollars.
Some pro team watchers cry about price caps for the sexiest players, but the only reason many of us care about any sport we can never afford to go and witness in real time, (TV time delays and stops in play for commercial airing),
IS that these millionare owners court our local pollitians and inject bond issues
for stadiums with adjoining retail mall spaces, that will utimately raise the property taxes of the same folks and families that can not afford to attend these alcoholic love ins.
And don't talk about the trickle down that will reward all, mana from some conservitive godhead, that money will be spend regardless and this trickle down has the same relevance as the liberal spiel about the taxes that are TRICKLED into wealfare raising all boats. Admit the bang for our tax buck is fizzling out, and trickling into the pockets of the few.
These sports dynasties are white elephants unless they get huge TV contracts.
Perhaps pro hockey sees the cost effectiveness of pro wrestling.
Perhaps we will be offered pro hockey in lycra spandex low rise uniforms filled with waxed and oiled hunks with bimbo stick maidens in appropreate sado masocistic regelia.
It was a SUCKER bunch.
What manly man tribe does any one strut and preen in, ... that glories in SUCKER punches?
Oh, I forgot, Canada's national game, and in , pro hockey, SUCKER punches are part of the game these days, just as sucker punches are a part of the more theatrical, and lucritive, pro wrestling.
Which team will be stage managed to the Stanley Cup this season?

Whoops ran you over with a car and broke your back! What the hell, press charges? I was only trying to scare you it's not your fault you slipped and fell infront of it. Hell, if you'd just gotten up after I hit you then there'd be no problem huh?Tayl wrote:Bullshit. You make it sound like Bertuzzi grabbed him by the throat and intentionally snapped his spine. Whether or not he meant to, he still broke his neck? For the most part "I didn't mean to" means oh, jack shit, as far as laws and courts go.
Did you even read the end of my post? Did I say he was totally innocent, and didn't deserve to get in trouble? No, I just said that this demonizing of him was unfair.
Hockey is violent, and attacks or hits with the intent for injury happen all the time. Hell, more serious things than this happen. So what about the next time a player sticks his knee out in the attempt to fuck up some other's players leg? I've seen that happen many more times than something like this, and the chances of that really injuring someone are much higher than just punching them in the back of the head with a gloved hand. Perhaps next time we should start acting like that player is the worst thing ever so we stay consistant. Or the next slashing penalty that happens should be met with a stiff 30 game suspension. After all, hitting someone with a stick is an obvious attempt at injuring them...much more so that hitting them with a gloved hand, at least. That guy deserves a suspension, too!
All I am saying is that Bertuzzi should not be made out to be the most evil fucker ever to play hockey. It was unlucky, it was unintentional, and it's unfair to make him out to be such a horrible, horrible person. Right after it happened he apoligized, called the hospital, and was apparently incredibly distraught that he caused the guy that much injury. Does that totally absolve him? No way, he still deserves a suspension(although I don't know if court action should be necessary). But it shows that he isn't the worst thing to ever happen to the game, like some people seem to think. Some people are acting like this incident is a total surprise, and Bertuzzi is an abnormality or something. Like there are no other violent players in the game, or other moments similiar to this. Cut me some slack.

I keep up with the news:
"Besides two fractured cervical vertebrae, Moore suffered deep facial cuts, a concussion and memory loss. He's out for the rest of the NHL season, at least."
The guy's gonna be fine...He'll be playing hockey next season.
As for Bertie, yeah, suspension is good enough..He didn't kill anyone, it was just a cheap shot.

All I care to know is that no tax dollars will pad the pockets of the billionare owners and the millionare players of any hockey scheme .
Wealfare for the rich is still wealfare. Their claims of entitlement are pathetic and belittle any sport.
Sucker punches can come in the heat of the moment and enforcers can lose their cool. So it goes. The man is recovering, that's good. The enforcer is out for the season too, so it goes.
