Concerning avatar linking

Make dumb suggestions so we can ignore them. I'm lovin' it.

Concerning avatar linking

Post by Kashluk »

Is it possible to enable the option to just link an avatar from a website/-space? I have an avatar that fits within the pixel size limitation (85x82, max is 100x120), but it's size is some 88 kb, so I can't upload it to DAC (max 39). I have webspace to put it on the net and I was hoping if I could just link my avatar here?

You could always chop it down.

Nay, I'm using a chopped version already and it's not half as pretty as the tr00 one.

Uh....yes. Yes you can. Just type in the URL of your avatar on your webspace and voila. That's how I'm doing mine.

No that just copies your av to dac, look and see, yours is linking to an on site thingamabober.

I donno seems like that's something in phpbb itself that you couldn't hax around to fix?

Nah, I'm using the bigger version on some other forums. It's completely adjustable...

Maybe have it as an option to either upload the file to DAC or just link it? I wouldn't ask any changes on the size limitation with the uploading part (there's never too much web space).

Okay, so...wait. Why do you need to have your avatar linked to your site? If it fits within the size restrictions, and if it's uploaded to your own webspace, just use the URL. I don't understand what the problem is.

*THERE IS NO OPTION TO DO SUCH THING*

That's the problem. I am FORCED to upload the avatar to DAC, even if I had my own web-space.

You can upload an avatar to DAC, but even it will still be subject to size and... size limitations (in kilobytes and area).
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

LOL Kashluk must be so frustrated, it seems I'm the only one who understands what he's talking about. I agree btw, but the admin's can't fix this kashluk because it's a feature of the php. The only thing they can do would be to simply increase the size limit of uploaded avatars. I'd say it should be about 80-100 KB.

That's brilliant! I bet Kashluk feels like such an idiot for not thinking about that.

Agreed, now that we have avatar size in check, lets get higher file size so we can do some of those fancy ass animated avatars.

How many small-sized animated image file types with common editing software do you know of? Others than .gif (which I'm using at this point and has proven to be quite effective, but not just enough).
