IMO, yes, much better, but because of better effects and what not, that they couldnt do before. Much more suspensfull and got me more into the movie. It's fundementally similar to the original, but i thought the acting was better.
I dont think anyone here would be dissapointed by it. I definately am not dissing the original.

*Spoilers, as if you care*
Having watched both the original and the new one, I'm not quite so sure which one I like better. The special effects and such are better in the new one, ofcourse. I also like how there were more then 4 survivors and how not everyone else was some sort of raider or something. Although I still think its weird that the zombies could run and such. I actually liked the new infection rate (Which is much faster, afew days to afew seconds). Pretty much everyone in the theater liked the movie, so we'll probably see a sequal and or prequal something. The way it began was alot more interesting in the fact that it didn't start as some freak newshow or something. Pretty much the whole thing is a mystery whereas in the original everyone knew what the zombies were, how it was spread, etc. Probably the weirdest thing is that there had to be hundreds of zombies who had full strength and all that, couldn't they have smashed the shatter-proof glass? I mean I know it's shatter proof, but that many zombies putting that much weight against that would probably have done something. The zombie baby was pretty weird if you ask me for the fact that it was obviousily a zombie before it was born, I'm pretty sure that since the Solnarium (If we're still going with George Romaro's ideas) was spread through the blood stream and since mothers and children share a differant blood stream through the placenta, that kinda doesn't make sense. Other then that, its a pretty good zombie movie. I liked it alot better then Resident Evil and pretty much any recent zombie movie, even "28 Days Later" if that counts.

I agree wolfman, but i try not to get too nit picky with movies as i end up not enjoying them as much after i poked holes in it and it starts to sink...
I was thinking it would have been cool for them to start off all freaked out, fast, and vicous... but as time went on, they would get slower and dumber from lack of..."fuel", food or whatever a zombie need for nourisment. I always wondered what kept zombies from attacking and eating eachother.

Technically the start here has no zombies into it until the first 5 minutes, inwhich you can see that the zombies are starting to happen, but no one has any idea whats happened. Then in the morning, everything is in turmoil, people are fighting in the front lawn and threatening each other. Its mayhem.

The original Dawn of the Dead? Uh, if that is what you are talking about, I suggest you rewatch it.Mr Carrot wrote:The thing is, the best bit of the original was the start which had no zombies in it.

Hmm. I suppose so, not too extremely, nothing beyond what would be. There no like... "My arm is bitten... OMG BLOOD EVARIEWARE SPRAYING LIKE A FIREHOSE!" There is gore applicable to the wound, and none of it is too extreme.
