Lots of posts on their forums about it. Majority of the replies say something about uninstalling the patch, uninstalling the game (in that order), and then reinstalling and going online without patch, from there you should be able to input your cd-key and it should work (try a few times one post said), and then when it is accepted back out, patch, go back and play. I dunno. I've been waiting all evening for ar eply to my issue on their techsupport forum so I've picked up a few things.
off topic? OMG YOU'VE BEEN CENSORED... yet you're still posting. MYSTARY!!!!

Haven't tried multiplayer because I hear it sucks. There's major lag problems the developers promised to be working on. Maybe after the next patch I'll give it a shot.POOPERSCOOPER wrote:Hows the multiplayer? I'm thinking about getting it, but I think you guys are just in your OMG stage and havent reflected yet, so I wait little while.
Crytek took some tips from Half Life's original launch. Great singleplayer and bare bones multi. I don't remember anybody getting HL for the online portion. Netcode sucked and it took mods to make it better. Hopefully Far Cry gets the same treatment. The Assault mode sounds like something cool to build off of. And the editor is supposed to be good. Everything is setup for the fans to take over.

Yea mega...I won't ruin it for everyone else, but my god, was that necessary?! Difficult isn't even the right word.
Personally, looking back, I enjoyed the first 70 - 75% (15 of the 20 levels) the most. The last parts and the end game...meh...still beautiful, but from a design standpoint, a tad weak, but not entirely unexpected.
Still was a kick ass experience...looking forward to D3 and HL2 moreso than ever.
Cheers

Oh yea, and for you new players...don't bother going to challenging or realistic. I consider myself a very capable FPS'er(read: top tier ), and didn't feel this was more challenging in a fair way. For example, I would be crouched and barely moving, and from around a wall and up on scafolding, you'd hear "did you hear that?". They make stealth so ambiguous, almost to the point where I felt that if it was convenient for them for me to be seen/heard regardless, for the sake of challenge, that it would be so. I never felt that I was being 'challenged' in a way where I was still responsible for my gameplay and perceptions and aiming ability, and more that it removes that fine layer of predictable gameplay(not predictable in a story way, but in a convention way; predictable or 'expected' behaviour vs irrational behaviour or unrealistic; unpredictable). The enemy just hears better, see's farther, aims better and can take hits and keep on coming. Some dudes I could empty a clip into, even zinging the head a few times and they wouldn't go down. No matter how spectacular my aim, it was a war of attrition, thankfully I could replenish quickly depleting ammo supplies.
Don't take this wrong...just saying play it on normal...maybe auto adjust Ai checked...you'll still be MORE than challenged, but not mind bending frustration.
Oh, and Rule #24 of game development, NEVER place enemies around tops of ladders the player has to navigate(and can't fire from) and NEVER start the player right in the middle of trouble. *sigh*
Cheers

I'm on the cooler mission now. I also picked up a new gun, but ran out of ammo for it. omg spoilars ahead!
The rocket-launching mutants aren't that fantastical I reckon, I usually just run away from them. I like the stealth mutants though. The spec-op guys are pretty funky too, though I'm getting to a point in the game where I avoid enemies instead of taking them all on. It's not too bad, just the scale of the fights and the lack of health or armour or ammo seem to not make it worthy to kill them all.
I'm digging it, but sometimes it can be too overwhelming. It's not too bad though, just makes me think more. Any game that makes me think is pretty good.
Anyone noticed that you get a health boost after every checkpoint when you load? I'm guessing this is why quicksaving isnt there. I like the system though, I can do certain sections whenever I want.
I hate the enemies above ladders though. Espeacially those rocket-launching snipers. I don't like the rocket-launcher at all actually. It should be more of a single shot thing, like a LAW. Or at least have a really slow reloading time.

Best way to deal with rocket snipers who are in towers is to simply throw a rock up to them. This works in realistic so it might not work in other settings, but the soldiers get so jumpy that they shoot the first thing they see move that isn't a friendly IE the rock. Since this is close proximity with a rocket......well nuff said. I don't even think it alerts anyone since it's friendly fire for the enemy. Abit odd, but if its stupid but it works, then it isn't stupid.
Harriers for the cup.

Just spent $100 bucks on this game (I hope you're Happy EvoG.....). And wow. My computer licks balls so I have to run it all on low. No bigger, looks like chrome and after a couple of hours of playing I start getting paintball patches.
Vechiles are fun. Had an absolute blast the first time I grabbed a buggy. Just past the bunker level. I'm half tempted to ditch uni tomorrow just to keep playing this thing.

So wait Stainless...is this a good thing? You're happy right?
Well just to make sure, I never said that you didn't need a powerful ass 'puter, but that a graphics card upgrade can go a long way to getting you out of low, since this puppy is shader happy, with a good majority of the calculations being done in the GPU.
Hehe, well I'm glad you're happy(I'M HAPPY!)...I think.
Cheers

Well I think we had this conversation before. You want the industry just stop right where you're at computational power-wise and just make games for older machines? How about the point of view I have, where "why did it take so long for games to catch up to my machines?" Games push the technology which improves technology which gives developers even more room to push the technology in an endless cycle...which is why today we have gorgeous looking worlds like D3, HL2, Farcry and Stalker. *shrugs*
Glider = sucks...
Mulitplayer officially rocks(as official as you consider me ). Assault is the way to go...very satisfying and I love how you can destroy lots of stuff as the attackers...and equally your engineers can rebuild BlowD up stuff on defense...great tug of war when you get on a server with people that know the fundamentals. Lag reminds me of Delta Force...and it comes and goes. For the most part on my cable I was averaging 100 - 140, which is awesome...but unlike UT, here the lag 'will' appear from time to time making firefights a tad difficult, but thats infrequent.
Cheers

There's a trick to using the glider. When you jump into the thing you HAVE to stay above water. The moment you're above land it'll nose dive. Yeah it's kinda lame, but you can skip long frustrating areas after getting the hang of it.

Yes, well everyone seems keen on releasing nothing but crap for low end machines these days, and anything that is worth getting comes in groups, and incidently, at the same time as I need to spend a couple of hundred on text books. It's just a royal pain in the arse to keep up on it.EvoG wrote:Well I think we had this conversation before. Well I am being fun about this, so take this the right way (NOT BEING MEAN STAINLESS ), BUT, why should the industry cater to you and your need for textbooks vs. me and my need for high tech games?
Or, are you just saying its a pain for you, but understand why they make high end games? Or are you actually frustrated by developers because they will tend to make high end games out of reach of slower machines?
As for the timing of good games and text books, well, I dunno, I have heard that they have meetings about when to release games...as I understand it, they know you're flush with text book money, so why not see if they can get you to spend some on games! Hehe.
