Xenosaga was boring as hell. I got excited for that game until I had to wait through about 30 or 40 minutes of cinema. I imagine one day I'll go back and play it, but god damn is sitting there for 30 or 40 minutes boring.

The SNES and Genesis versions of Shadowrun are totally different though? That said, I never got into the Gen. version, do they end up being the same somehow despite the entirely dissimilar presentation? Eh donno, the SNES one was good at least.

The SNES version of shadow run (Although short) is one of my favorite SNES games around. The genesis one was abit........egh I don't know how to describe it, but I didn't like it as much.

Yeah, that was a downside, but it actually pushed plot along, as opposed to Final Fantasy X where the game was just a giant movie that you moved between the different parts of. Xenosaga had its boring parts, but I loved the combat system and enjoyed playing it. Boring at parts... but good.

I didn't like Xenogears, the story went over the top and didn't pace itself well enough; too many plot twists in too short of time. The battle system also sucked fat dick, you have to randomly punch the buttons to find new uber combos and if you dont do it you dont get them. I went throug the whole game with like under 10 combos?, my friend was like "wtf, how did you get that far with so little?" and I was like "no ur gay". In FFX i thought that the system u just had to get past an area on the battle map or whatever and u get the thingy, I did that for half the game and still managed to beat it. I'm good at fucking up yet still going through it.( I TRIED SO HARD BUT GOT SO FAR< IN TEH END IT DOESN"T EVEN MATTER-johnpnp)

I heard Xenosaga had half hour cutscenes and I just laughed, cause it sounded so stupid. I dont play console RPGs anymore, to say the least.

thats pretty much the same problem i have with final fantasy games. ff8 was fuckin terrible for that. use your special, wait 5 minutes for movie to end, kill guy. sad thing is you had to use your special for every goddamn unit because your normal attack was fuckin useless.

THat is nothing. I clocked a two hour session of FF10 once. It came out to like 103 minutes of cutscene.

Morrowind, if you have the time and patience for it.

And definitely Plaescape: Torment if you can find it.

Some of the games seem to have pretty sliced "audiences"... Like in case of Morrowind, Lionheart, FF and Diablo for example, people either like them or call them carbage, there doesn't seem to be any "golden midway"?

Anyways, Morrowind wasn't much of an RPG, but it's a pretty nice adventure game. I likey. Pretty much like KOTOR.

Planescape: Torment is second on my top-game list, right behind Fallout(s)... At times, it even threatened the Great FO's throne. It's really that good, I recommend it whole-heartily.

There haven't been many really really quality RPG's published as of late, but from other genres I suggest you try Silent Storm (tactical combat), Jagged Alliance 2 (tactical combat), Victoria (big time strategy), Hearts of Iron (big time strategy) and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (adventure). I've personally enjoyed those games a lot and just recently.

I played Prince of Persia, but in three hours and thirty three minutes, I was like fourty-some odd percent finished with it. I don't think that the short gametime will make up for the interesting and original, but very repetative gameplay. Niice graphically, interesting ideas... but combat is just the exact same simplistic thing over and over and over to kill the sand-zombies.

The Genesis version of Shadowrun trumps the SNES on almost every aspect. The SNES version isn't bad, but it's more like a cross between a run'n'gun game and an adventure game (getting items to advance in the game, learning words to ask people, etc). The Genesis version by contrast, adopts a more freeform structure, a better cybercombat scheme, the option of taking on a variety of jobs (corp extractions, package aquicsitions, ghoul hunting), a more detailed gameworld, the possibility to hire and control your NPCs, the choice of 3 classes (Street Samurai, Decker and Gator Shaman), and doesn't really force the player to advance the story (in fact, its encouraged that you don't advance it right away).

At first i also didn't liked the game, but thankfully i played it more and found its a great game.

Actually, I found new things popping up till the very last minutes of the game (which was from the total of somewhat 8 hours of gameplay). Not only from the adventure & acrobatics part, but from the combat as well. I didn't really learn how to use those jumping attacks / dodges 'till I was about 20% through with the game and the art of defending didn't become familiar to me before the latter half.

Plus, like I said, those climbing, jumping and all other acrobatic stuff get more and more challenging, innovative and surprising towards the end. Many of the late-game puzzles are quite good too. I think if they had made it any longer, it would've become repetative in my book, but this way it was an agreeably tasty piece of game.
