Far Cry. Yep, I had to post this.

And you, Max, have the Ti4600? Same as me? So why doesn't mine work? :censored: What drivers are you using?

Nope. Though lots of other people have that card and are able to run Far Cry. Your error message is a mystery to me. The fix could be as simple as uninstalling and defragging the hard drive. Or be a pain in the ass like having to get rid of that piece of shit AMD.

If I can land a job I'll do just that. I want a whole new PC from the ground up. I'd make this a server or something. However, I lack that job part right now. I actually was going to defrag yesterday, I haven't done it in faaaar too long. Would/should uninstalling come before that?

Sounds like something I wouldn’t mind doing. I haven’t seen many of your models though, what skill level were you at when you went freelance? I'm getting way better with my models, but I need to take some form drawing classes so I can understand anatomy better.

Well this is a sample of a recent project :

Image

Um, I was pretty good when I started, don't know how to quantify that(no old artwork), but I was working at my first in-office gig at the time. I did do SOME work for Sega as my very first paying gig, but I was still parttime doing other shit. I also did some covers for Hero magazine...some video segments for Hero tv (Hero is the now long defunct comic mag from Sendai Publication...they do EGM, CINESCAPE, etc ). But yea...REAL freelance, on my own(actually as my own studio, incorporated an all), I didn't start until two years after my pro job. This was also years ago mind you (1997), so there was far less exposure to this stuff as there is now. Its EVERYWHERE online, and in mags, and hundreds of books, so you have an opportunity, if studious, to accelerate all this. Watch every video, read everybook...listen to me :giggle: ...and you can pick it up much faster if you have a penchant for art like that.

Cheers

jetbaby: The latest and greatest, 56.64 drivers.

EvoG: Dangit, that's what I was afraid of.

Anyway, about the actual game: Woa. Woa. WOA.

Even on my poo-poo 'puter, the game looks awsome, AND I get water that reflects stuff! Woooo!

That part where you climb onto the deck of the carrier and have to fight all those bad guys and the chopper drove me nuts. Finally did it, went over to the raft, and proceeded to fall into the water. Then I'm like, "Shit!" so I shoot the chains holding the raft and presto! Good stuff.

Being called "Mofo" by enemies = priceless.

Nice feet on that soldier evo. I guess he must kick a lot of butt LOL!

If you want the quicksave, I found this on the forum LOL!
Find and edit "DevMode.lua" with wordpad or equiv. Add these two lines to the end of the file:

Input:BindCommandToKey("#Game:Save('quicksaved_game');","f5",1); Input:BindCommandToKey("#Game:Load('quicksaved_game');","f6",1);

Use -DEVMODE on shortcut launch. You can quicksave with F5 and quickload with F6.
use at your own risk mateys

still cant find that c4.

edit: Found the c4, must have not been triggering a trigger or something. I'm not digging this level much though, after clearing out a bunch of rooms with trigens and shit I found out I still had to go get the PDA thingy. So then I had too clear more mutants and mercs out, only to die off some monkey and it hadn't saved even after I'd killed everything else.

finally got past the catacombs. The river mission is pretty good, though at the end it seems a little like overkill.

Higher graphics actually make the game harder, when there’s grass everywhere its near impossible good long shot where it would have been easy on a lower setting.

All I have to say is very nice work, I hope to do something on par with it one day. Is he in the helmet that you asked Menno for pictures of a while ago?

I said I thought the feet were too big. His chest also looks pretty flat.

Good face and gun though. It looks a good model but I'm not a 3d modeller, so I can't really decide if it's good or not LOL!

I turned down lighting and shadows on my game, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Did they take out the effect of being able to see through your scope while it's in normal mode?

I personally see nothing wrong with his feet......but his hands look too big if you ask me. Also his chest is abit flat imo. Other then that, great work.

Yeah...The hands are gigantic...That's about all. As for the chest...Meh...He's just a little scrawney feller.

So is that a bad guy? The playable character? What's his role in the game (if any) before I decide if it sucks.

Getting back on topic.... Did any of you chaps have problems installing Far Cry???

I get "Error 1335 - the file English.cab is corrupt" and the installation aborts! Not very impressive having shelled out £34.99 for a game I can't fucking install!
