I think the last time i heard a similar comment on something was when certain people were putting aside FO:BoS complains.Radoteur wrote:When something is that badass, who cares when it came from?
There's nothing wrong with the vehicule per se. Its just that the vehicule, for all purposes, never existed within context of the character's mythos. The Batmobile they're taking - apparent - inspiration from is almost a tank; also, its used in a graphic novel suggesting a future version of the character. Meanwhile, the movie is apparently based on the characters' past... when he was in training. That's way back.
So basically we're being told the new Batmobile is set in Batman's past, but is based on a future model the character himself never created.
Do i hear contradiction? Yup.

Bale seems to fit the role. If they're going with the idea of showing the character's past, Bale seems to fit the role of the ocasionally smiling playboy. Wayne used that behaviour to fool people. And Bale is soemwhat younger-looking than the other Batmans, which might help.
