A 10$ fee every month was acceptable for UO when it came out since it was pretty revolutionnary, and at the time maybe they really needed that money for the support, maintenance and developpement, but I doubt games like EQ2 or WoW, developped by huge rich companies, will really fully use that money for support and maintenance.
Guild Wars is an MMOG and is free of charge. Same with Savage or whatever it's called.

And I can't understand 'em. You get a gun so you won't get mugged, you lock your doors at night and buy an expensive alarm system so you won't get knocked, you don't buy form eBay so you won't get fooled and you certainly won't get involved in the stockmarket so you won't get bedazzled. You always fear for the worst when it comes to money...
