Sidebar links now corrected
<strong>[Community -> Update]</strong>
As you can see, the sidebar links there on the right hand side now reflect the new domain for <i>Duck and Cover</i>, <A href="http://www.duckandcover.cx">http://www.duckandcover.cx</a>. So, no more need for things like <b>JimmyJay86</b>'s news item just a few posts down.
<br>
<br>Some functions still are a little flakey as we're adapting <A href="Http://www.rpgcodex.com">RPGCodex</a>'s scripts to work with this site to bring it back to <b>FULL, RICH TECHNICOLOR</b>. Please stand by, hosers.

The hosted sites are hosed still. I need to talk with Soulie about that.
I can probably get the emails working by just setting them up again.
A lot of the old content has old links in it, so I'm just going to run them through the new content system when I fix the links to allow for comments on them.
But right now, the poll works, the news system works(it's a lot different than before) , there's an article posting system now which is a LOT better than manually FTPing HTML files to the site, the PotW now works, and so on.

Well, there are a few reasons why it took so long. The first was that I wasn't expecting Killian to up and vanish forever. I thought he'd be gone for a couple of week and then come back. He hasn't. I've been waiting on him most of the time.
The second reason is that while there was some interest in this place, no one was interested in it enough to actually contact me about it. I knew certain individuals wanted to do it, but I was waiting for a first step. That never came either. I had to approach someone who was interested in doing it the other day. Basically, running a web site takes a good deal of commitment and I wanted someone to show me they were committed enough to ask me in the first place.
I posted a few things in the moderator/administrator forum about this a few days ago. So far, I haven't gotten a single reply in that thread about who wants to take up the slack and push this site forward now that Fallout 3 is coming, and Wasteland 2 is very likely as well.
So, I'm starting to question as to whether or not I was right in getting Calis to help me get this place working again. After all, it's going to take a lot of work to get this site running completely. I'm not willing to do that and just see it completely sit there inactive.

That sucks in a major way... the first thing I did when I found the new URL is ask if someone had contacted Saint, and I was told that you had been asked, but just wanted to run your Codex instead.Saint wrote:no one was interested in it enough to actually contact me about it.
Look at it this way Saint... you're the best, last hope of humanity. MMRW mentioned something about getting a server, but in my estimation, if we want a real community (aka a functional website/forum) by the time FO3 rolls around, we're going to need your help big time. And believe me, I know that is no small favor to ask.

Pfft. Nothing beats hard-coded HTML uploaded via FTP. It is the pinnacle of web development. Better yet, is hard-coded HTML made in MS FrontPage and "published" via MS FrontPage. Oh yeah, that's the stuff. Pure gold right there. Actually, MS Word. That's the trick. ... and if the PotW is working, why am I still seeing Miss Lounge USA '98? ... or by working do you mean "can't be bothered making a new one just yet"?
Oh look, political issues...
EDIT: Bizzarro. Wonder why FTP. has turned into a link?
Well, subdomains no longer work because Apache's expecting the requests to come to subdomain.duckandcover.net and not subdomain.thevats.net. Shouldn't be too hard to fix for the gatecentral boys.
SuperH, I actually agree with you, I need to work on the news post layout some more, possibly just copy-paste it from the old script.

Dunno, but it certainly crashes my IE here.DarkUnderlord wrote:EDIT: Bizzarro. Wonder why FTP. has turned into a link?
Saint, I'm sorry no one seems interested. I certainly am, but I sadly don't know shit about HTML and forums. Also, most people consider me either as Susan or as "asshole" so not much people ever thinks of me for doing anything.

It's not hard. Those are the five things you really need to know. I've been posting news and content on sites since 2001, and I don't know much more than that.
Then how did you reply?and forums.

Big problem with that is that the email for the forum doesn't work.Maybe now is the time to send out a mass email to all registered users to try and get interested people back?
