Bethesda opens up its forums

Post by Mr. Teatime »

<strong>[Community -> Update]</strong>

Breaking news, stop the press, Bethesda has now decided to open up its <a href="http://www.elderscrolls.com/ubbthreads/ ... >forums</a> to include <b>MULTIPLE FALLOUT 3 THREADS</b>. Yes, you read that right. <b>MULTIPLE THREADS</b>:
<br>
<br><blockquote>The admin have decided that Fallout 3 conversations no longer need to be confined to this one constantly regenerating thread. We will now allow multiple Fallout 3 threads in the Community Discussion forum. Of course, if Community Discussion becomes swamped with Fallout 3 threads, or things otherwise get out of hand, we will probably go back to keeping it within one thread. Hopefully, by giving this Fallout 3 some more space, things will be easier for everyone.</blockquote>
<br>
<br>This posting is in no way related to the fact that I wanted to be the first out of <a href="http://www.rpgcodex.com">RPGCodex</a> and <a href="http://www.nma-fallout.com">NMA</a> to get some news before I go to bed.
<br>
<br>Spotted at: <A HREF="http://www.elderscrolls.com/ubbthreads/ ... >Thread</A>

That's what happens I guess when you largely ignore the fans of the game and try to pen them all up in one lump thread.

"Too early to say"? Are you Hines in disguise?

Hines is too retarded to do such an intelligent thing.

You'd just have to go :

Susan : Hey Hines!
George(Hines undercover) : Yes? Shit, I blew it up once again.

I admit Im highly concerned, but I wont decare it crap til we see a little more than misquoted interviews with a PR guy who has his head up his ass at the beast of times.

Personaly, I think that if they keep the path they seem to be following with Hines it'll suck, but I hope Im wrong.

How about we in the community pledge to support the game until we see concrete evidence that it's going to suck. In other words, for the good of the non-fallout fans, don't bash it till we know for certain. (As opposed to when IPLY was in charge... a deaf, blind, and dead person could tell it was a disaster waiting to happen.) There, that's reasonable enough right?

Nope. That just means they won't tell us shit until release day, and then we'll all be horrified by how bad it is if they screwed it up. I think it's better to remain leary rather than to blindly support a developer that's never made anything remotely like Fallout in the past. The fact they're using the same engine for Fallout 3 they've been building to power Elder Scrolls 4 is enough to make me tread lightly and be suspicious.

Ok, then we'll adopt a position not of complacency, but of guarded apprehension. We'll demand results and open communication with the developers. Everyone wins that way. And at this point, I'd accept a "playable" game, because frankly that's all we're likely to see at best. You'll probably disagree Saint, but I don't think the presence of the ES4 engine precludes "playable".
