Fox Searchlight has begun work on 28 Weeks Later, the working title to the 2002 zombie flick 28 Days Later.

Fox Searchlight is developing a sequel to 28 Days Later, the Danny Boyle-directed horror film that became a fall hit in 2002, reports Variety. The trade says that the tentative title is 28 Weeks Later and that the studio is in talks with Rowan Joffe (BBC's Last Resort) to write the script.

Boyle is not expected to direct the sequel, though he and screenwriter Alex Garland likely will take producing roles alongside the first film's producer, Andrew Macdonald.

Not much happening with this yet, but with the success of 28 Days Later, it's pretty much assured that this one will come out. We'll keep an eye on it for you in the meantime.

It's sad Boyle won't be the director though. He made the movie good.

It'll be interesting to see whether the epidemic was global or only confined to Britain.

That was something that didn't make sense to me when I first saw the movie. Cause Rage was originally tested on animals, then got transferred to humans. If all it takes for infection was for the tiniest bit of infected material to enter the bloodstream, then why didn't all the animals in England get infected to? Was it just a disease exclusive to primates? If that's the case, then that would explain how the disease could be contained on the Island.

But, I imagine it won't take long for the zombies to get into the Chunnel or something and make their way onto the mainland continent.

I'm not really sure this movie should have a sequel. The first one was fine by itself, and like KoC said, extenting the whole "rage" thing to new and different areas would be rather silly.

Didn't they say sometime during the movie that NY and Paris were being attacked or something?
