The goriest game ever made
[Game -> Update]
American McGee, the person who made the pretty decent (if repetative) game Alice, has written on his website that he may be collaborating with George Romero on a game called City Of The Dead, presumably to tie in with the recently announced Land Of The Dead film.

Recently my company tmiec partnered with asylum entertainment to bring to life a new romero concept called "city of the dead". We're now in the process of shopping the interactive rights to games publishers. the tagline for the product is "the goriest game ever made". We hope to bruise a few psyches with this one... Romero's most recent film, a remake of dawn of the dead, knocked "the passion of christ" out of the #1 slot a few months back. A second film was just green-lit, and a third is in the works. Romero himself would be happy to be involved in the development.

I don't think Romero had anything to do with the remake of Dawn Of The Dead, American.

There's a concept overview and some nice looking concept art.

That remembers me, at the time when Alice was news4ur0n27 wrote: (...)see a little girl running around with a big knife.
on the shelves, in a warehouse, in neighbour city
they had a lifesize Alice, hiding her knife beyond
her back, I didn't know the game by that time,
but I knew, I want this figure!

I only played the demo but it was a freakish game. Which is to say I liked it. It's not too common to have games like that which are groundbreaking in several ways so I think you can't help but praise it. It is hard to characterize because it really isn't a FPS although it does have some characteristics of one. McGee isn't the Herve Caen following popular trends - he is off in his own universe which is a good thing for a game maker.

what about the oldies?
Hey wasn't Project Overkill on PSone one of the most violent games ever made I mean from what I remember you could track blood everywhere and blow shit up also there was chunks of meaty mayhem whenever you used explosice on those little grey pussies at the beginning of the game.
Another game that was pretty gory was Loaded which if I'm correct was released by Interplay. It was pretty violent and gory too however you couldn't the blood like you could in Project Overkill.

wait a minute
I went to those links posted at the very beginning of this topic. Those city of the dead pics were perhaps some the best pics I have ever seen art wise. The City of the Dead game idea seems badass evough and I do hope its off the ground and marches it's bloodt stumped zombie goodness into the future as the goriest game ever!
