Dude that's fine I can understand everything you said perfectly and you post helped me to see how shitty the movie actually was. But before I forget I grew on the Dark Horse presents AvP and other Aliens and Predator comics and assorted books.Wolfman Walt wrote:Heres for hoping I can clear some things up? Once again, spoilers, read at your own risk.
As for the PG-13 rating. It did do worse to the movie then I anticipated. Infact, I didn't even know it was PG-13 until I left and saw it on the marquee on the way out. Take for instance when the Black guy from resident evil died (I suppose he was the squad/security team leader). I didn't know he died until they stopped showing him. I just thought that the gaffi stick just went through the net and he was set free. This is one of those cases where marketing and such goes in and edits stuff like that out. IE, PG - 13 means more people can go in (like all the teenagers) which means more money for them. You have to remember, most of hollywood no longer cares about making GOOD movies, just making movies that make GOOD money.
Note - I know some of that was repeated, but ugh, think of it as backing up your opinions for whoever said what.
Yes I was dissappointed by the fact AvP wasn't long also by the fact like a retard running with scissors that Paul Anderson rushed production and the movie alike along like it was Inlaws at your house during the SuperBowl.
But hey we might get a special edition dvd when it comes out or they might do what Miramax is doing with KillBill and releasing special editon separately then Releasing a boxed set with more shit than you can shake a stick at so that you support in the whoring of a series.
Ignore my warnings and pay no heed then your live will be ended shortly indeed!

Instead of making a third post to apologize for a double post, how about deleting one, or, if that is impossible, edit one and place a message saying "Sorry, doublepost" in it instead.
Now. Walt. Yay or nay, is it worth the cash? I'm a die-hard Alien and Predator fan (forsaking Alien Ressurrection which I never really saw all the way through and don't plan on any time soon) if that will alter your decision.

yeah
Oh hell yeah that first series and the second series that dark horse did just called Aliens was totally fucking awesome and they would have made the franchise more popular but again Hollywood let us down with the release of Alien 3 which was David Finchers worst movie to date. Now grant it that I own Alien 3 I still hate it for what it was and what it will never be ever. MOST of all of the Aliens and Predator comics had better writers that new that story was WAY more important than money was and that the reason the Aliens comic book series flourished during the early 90's. Now since Alien Ressurection almost killed the franchise you'll be hard pressed to even hear murmurings about any new Aliens comics other than last summers release of Aliens vs Judge Dread. But hey who am I to complain. I am just a fan who knows what makes some series good.

Egh, its worth 5 bucks I suppose and is entertaining enough....my real suggestion? Go in with the lowest expecatations possible. Think its gonna be either complete shit or worse. That way you can't be dissapointed and you can't feel cheated.
Edit - As for the comics. Wasn't Aliens vs. Superman and Aliens vs Batman recently released or something? I dunno, I hate mankind so I don't buy anything but Punisher and Hellboy anymore....which ironically were both movies this year. Bizzaro. But yea, comics now adays suck anyways. As for the Aliens, predator, and AvP books, they're the only books in highschool I actually read. That and "Farewell to arms" and "1984".

the deal
Aliens vs Batman was like 98 and Aliens vs Superman was like 97. So if by recent you mean like 7-8 years ago then yes. Correction though Aliens vs Batman II came out in 2003 and yes it was pretty badass.

Speaking of Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash:

With the success of New Line's Freddy vs. Jason, followed by Fox's Alien vs. Predator, another franchise looks to be headed into the fray.
The Hollywood Reporter says New Line is in talks with director/producer Sam Raimi ("Spider-Man" franchise) for the much-rumored Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash. In the proposed sequel, Freddy ("A Nightmare on Elm Street") and Jason ("Friday the 13th") would go up against Ash, the cynical anti-hero survivor of Raimi's "Evil Dead" trilogy, which also includes Army of Darkness.
Bruce Campbell played the character in the trilogy and would play him again if the deal were to close. Although Raimi would not direct, he holds rights to the "Evil Dead" franchise. The trade adds that if a deal isn't made, the studio is determined to extend the franchise by introducing a new character or pitting Freddy and Jason against each other again.

I had pretty low expectations about the movie, and I have to say, I was still let down. I was expecting bad, but possibly in a campy and fun way. What I got was just plain bad. No redeeming value, really. It was just lame.Wolfman Walt wrote:Egh, its worth 5 bucks I suppose and is entertaining enough....my real suggestion? Go in with the lowest expecatations possible. Personally, I thought they fucked the pooch when they decided to set it in modern day. I think setting it sometime before Alien would have been much better instead of the SUPER ZIGGURAT UNDER ANTARCTICA bullshit.
Furthermore, the tie in was totally gay. Predators used ancient humans to breed aliens to hunt? WTF? Humans are pretty fucking pathetic compared to other species of animals right here on Earth. Why not use a bear or a rhino to breed the aliens? Something actually imposing! Even a tiger. wolf, or some other large mammal would have been better than a human. Seriously, why pick something that has pretty much ZERO NATURAL DEFENSES if you want a challenging hunt? The dog alien in Alien 3 was faster and meaner than the human-alien dealies.
In several thousand years, the Predator people haven't come up with new weapons and stuff? I can see their technology not changing much in maybe 100 years or so, but we're talking millenia!
The ziggurat was also equiped with all kinds of techology. Where were the lights? The majority of the middle of the movie was nothing more than flashlights moving around in the dark with a few screams and the occational glimpse of something. It wasn't a bit scary. In fact, it was really fucking annoying. Maybe if I gave a shit about any of the characters, it might have been a touch of scary, but I didn't care about them. In fact, there were a few times when I didn't really know who was screaming and/or dying. Maybe if there were lights and maybe if I really cared about the characters, then sure.
Then again, if I actually cared about the characters, I think I would have been totally pissed off about them going down with 30 some odd people and most of them dying in the pitch blackness of the movie. I think it would have made it even more frustrating that way. "I care about the characters, so who the hell just died?!" I halfway wonder if that kind of thing had to do with the PG-13 thing. If it's dark, and you can't see much, and they die, it's not so bad to the ratings board.
About the only thing this movie really has going for it is that Catwoman also came out this year. So, there's no way it can be the worst movie of the year.

I'm still fucking pissed it wasn't in the Alien timeframe. I wanted fucking SPACE MARINES. not some pussy shit... I don't know what they are.

seriously
Ok when I heard of AvP being in production I was hoping for maybe some Aliens vs Predator with some marines thrown into the fray circa 2179 the peropd of Aliens also the period of the DarkHorse comic series.
For the most part AvP was ok it could have been a hell of a lot better but it wasn't infact I imagine POS Anderson probably had something cool going and then he scrapped and fucked it up with hopelessly stupids ideas like human cattle and ancient temple. Shit if I wanted that I would have watched the Matrix and The Indiana Jones series separately. It would have even nicer if it hadn't have been a 87 minute waste of $5.25.[/b]

AvP was a very short movie indeed I think perhaps that tomb raider or resident evil were longer than it. So yeah 87 minutes.

most definitely
Hollywood hates good ideas because they have agreements with people that have shitty ideas like POS Anderson who at the start of his career was good but fell into the Soldier area of movie likes what he did with RE and AVP. Damn shame cause the darkhorse comics would have jumpstarted those two franchises if they had been able to do the movie about the 1991-92 AvP comic instead because as I have before would have made more sense. But hey it's gonna be number 1 for the next few weeks so lets ride the coattails of 20th century fox's shit fest aka AvP.
