I saw the assault rifles in the preview, and I thought to myself, "Why would they take guns with them on an archeological dig?"

And then I found out it was for no particular reason.

I was mistaken.

Starship Troopers would have been an okay movie. That is, if it didn't claim to have any ties to the book.

I've heard many people say that it's quite possibly the worst movie they've ever seen, and that they reused a lot of the special effects shots from the first movie.

I haven't seen it myself, though, nor am I inclined to.

I don't know........horrible shit entertains me to no end. I am quite possibly the only one who thought "House of the Dead" was the best comedy of 2003 (or whenever it was released).

I thought House of the Dead was funny, too.

But not $7.50 funny.

Another thing I didn't really like was that the aliens just weren't anything special. Armor or not, I just can't see a predator going toe to toe with one in melee fun combat. That scene where the predator picks the alien up, spins around a few times, and hurls it twelve or so feet through the air was just lame.

Going toe to toe with an alien should result from a Predator death nearly every time. Aliens are silicon based creatures with thick shells. They'd be really, really heavy. Furthermore, if you stabbed one or chopped it up, assuming you could actually pierce the hide of one of them, you'd get a nice spray of deadly acid for your trouble. There was no consistancy with the acid blood thing. They showed the alien blood eating some things, but most of the time, anything used on the alien from a predator, the blood had no effect. Anyone ever seen a metal that acid wouldn't react with? Lame.

OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NO!

NO! NO! NO! NO!

Never. Ever. EVER. It was horrible. They tried to make it into some shitcrazy murder mystery with "OMG TEH HERO TURND VILLAN... DID HE DO IT?!?! NOW!!! IT WAS THE GOOD GUY, BUT NOT THE ASSHOLE GOOD GUY, THE OTHER GOOD GUY" plot development. It didn't even have any good action scenes. Hell, it didn't have action scenes at all except for near the end. Then it turned into some anti-war propaganda at that point.
off topic? OMG YOU'VE BEEN CENSORED... yet you're still posting. MYSTARY!!!!

Hey does anyone have info on whether or not AvP is still number 1 here in Ameirca? I was curious and haven't been keeping up with TV as mine got fried like 4 months ago during a thunder storm.

Ash vs. Anything would be an amazing movie...it could have shitty writers, a shitty director, it could have everything going against it.

But with Bruce Campbell, the movie will be up for Academy Awards (or at least should be)

It still is.

Domestic Total as of Aug. 16, 2004: $42,219,228
Production Budget: $60 million
Est. Marketing Costs: $35 million
(source: Box Office Mojo)

So while it still hasn't broken even yet (it is still the first week its been out), it looks kinda on track to. Although, it will most likely get its ass kicked at the box office by Exorcist: The Begining or whatever its called, which comes out this Friday.

Here's to hopin that AvP at least makes $95 million, so that way, they'll have broken even, thereby increasing the chances of a sequal done by a better team.

Thanks KoC for that bit of enlightenment. I am sure Ridley Scott, Dan O'Bannon and H.R. Geiger were dead they would be rolling around in their graves as to who much of a whore that their child has become.

I went to my local comic shop yesterday and saw that they had an assload of Aliens and Predator comics on the rack due to the release of AvP. I found a bunch stuff I hadn't been able to find in years. Like Aliens:Tribes, Nightmare Asylum TPB and Predator:Race War.It brings me back to the days when I was 10 and nothing in the world stopped me from buying my favorite comics in the world. Also I am as broke as hell because of my shopping splurge.
