Conan: The Barbarian
Platoon
Predator
Aliens
Star Wars
Indiana Jones
As someone previousily mentioned. Conan had a great soundtrack that is hard to top. I also really enjoyed the Platoon soundtrack alot. "Adagio for Strings" has to be one of the BEST songs from a movie I can think of and overall the songs fit the era rather well. I can almost garuntee you that if you're talking to a Vietnam vet, they'll cry or murder someone if they hear "Sittin on the dock of a bay" by Otis Redding. Predator and Aliens also had good memorable soundtracks. My fifth and sixth choices may seem obvious, but I'm gonna go with Star Wars or Indiana Jones. Say what you will about George Lucas' crazy ass now, but back in the 70's and 80's he made great movies.

I stand corrected (well kinda). Thanks Spazmo. I was actually refering to Lucas art studio and such. Spielberg directed Indiana Jones ofcourse. Lucas was a screen writer/producer/executive producer/Story writer/Etc is what I ment to say instead of "Made good movies". One of those instances of "Say what you mean, not mean what you say" I suppose.
Speaking of which, any new news on the Indiana Jones movie front? Last I remember we were still in "George Lucas being an asshole" stage.

here
Another soundtrack that was pretty good was Requiem For A Dream with music from Clint Mansell formerly from Pop Will Eat Itself. Another soundtrack that is great for atmosphere is Blade Runner.
