Naaa, I got to agree with SaintP... Fallout was a two-fold operation, sure, you had the fuel cell technology, but at the same time you had a fight for the dwendelling supply of oil. the basis behind this was the fight for vehicles and technologies that were ammuned to EMP... Remember the intro in TOFO, where you had the car with no electronics? Any ways, you also have to look at the timeline... You're talking over 100's... actually, now, with the FO3 timeline, you're possibly looking at closer to 200 yrs. soooo, do you know of many cars that would survive the elements after 150+ yrs in the wasteland? I don't... I love Subarus... They hold up, but not like that. And society was destroyed, so it's not like people would give a shit about these automobiles, specially when you have no way to refine the fuel, or obtain fuel cells. So, vehicles should always be sparce/non-existant.

Oh yeah, I forgot that Supermutants, power armor, plasma rifles, vacuum tube tech, and so forth are all staples of Max Mad! What was I thinking!?
Maybe if you weren't an ultraconservative cunt you would understand that not every aspect of Fallout comes from 50's pulp sci fi.
You mean like the various references to post apocalyptic/nuclear fiction? Or general sci-fi? I suppose Fallout is all about Wargames because of the Shall we play a game? How about Global Thermonuclear War. bit, too? Sorry, dipshit, a few references does not a setting make.

PS. You may now lick the tangles out of my nutsack hair.
Did you miss the part in Road Warrior where all of the bad guys had cars too?
Nothing like Mad Max's big block V-8 interceptor. The whole point was that since he was a "hero", he needed something like the last muscle car on the force or some such. They still had gasoline, but they were scaling back to smaller engines. They weren't totally out yet.
Idiots wouldn't.
You sound like Rosh.
You sound like Elara.

Now, decide which is more degrading for yourself.

I think there was very little of the Fallout world inspired by Mad Max. All I can think of is Dogmeat and the leather jacket - that is all. It's a different universe entirely where car combat doesn't really belong.

There's the "Road Warrior" perk in FOT, but it sucks anyway, so who cares.

Just look at this, looks cool. Van Buren might have had alot more features than we thought.

I'm going to cry

Spotted at NMA.

Maybe if you weren't an idiot, you'd understand that Road Warrior and Fallout aren't the same thing. It's the only logical conclusion to your statement, because only an idiot wouldn't see there's a huge difference between Mad Max's 1970s oil crisis driven plot and Fallout's 1950s pulp sci-fi plot.

Maybe if YOU weren't an idiot you would notice that's his fucking opinion. Now if we would be talking around ideas for FO3, and he'd say that he wants cars, I could understand your reaction, but what the fuck? When I'm gonna say that I have nothing against bananas you would call me an idiot? Sheeesh.

Byt the way, bananas sucks.

It seems like drivin' around is going to be a big part of the game. Pilot skill anyone?

As for the whole 'Vault experiment' thing, I'd imagine that some of the vaults of the 100 or so total would have a few odd experimental things about them, but to think that each one is a separate mad scientists' experiment is lunacy. I don't recall anything like that being stated in Fallout 2 - That's just something that MCA made up for his Fallout bibles, so why does everybody take it so seriously?
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

Like the old saying goes, "Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink." Just because someone wants animal sex in HalfLife2 really doesn't mean their opinion should be voiced...ever.

yea I agree with JJ and saint , fallout 1 took little inspiration from road warrior , besides the easter egg in junktown and the jacket , nothing else was inspired by it . Cars didnt belong to it's universe if they appeared it would be just a secondary thing...
