Hard to say, they're different. Violent Cop is nearer to Brother, I think, but lot less American (Brother is just really Americanized). Fireworks is all-round excellent, and probably his best work.

Hell yeah, I want to see that movie bad. Is it out in the US? In theatres? Coming out? I can't figure out what the deal is with it, I've only ever seen ads for it and I never catch when or how it's coming out.

Digging up old threads is fine in my opinion, as long as you add something to the conversation.

I'm actually glad this was revived, because I didn't know it existed and I was going to start a thread about the new movie Hero. I'd heartily reccomend it to anyone who can stand subtitles.

From the looks of things, the Chicoms really went all out producing this movie. The actors are good - their emotions show through well despite them speaking Chinese - the costumes are well done, and the special effects are remarkable. It was nothing like I had expected going in, but was still pretty damn good.

What does anyone else who saw it think of it?

If it was a newbie who had decided to dig up a year old thread for its first post to write 'LOL', then it would be a problem...

I do like how he revived it to tell us about Battle Royale, which just about everyone knows about.

LOL Wuts Battle Royal?

I was always a bigger fan of Chow Yun Fat's "For a Better Tommorow" movies and his other heroic bloodshed stuff. Although to be fair Battle Royal IS real good.

A Better Tomorrow is one of the few John Woo movies I've seen, and I loved it.

Anyone else check out Hero yet? I've got the Chinese DVD and I heard some of the subtitles were changed for the American version.

don't bother with battle royale 2 though. doesn't come close to it's predecessor. the whole movie is one big dying scene, endless scenes of asian teens dying very very slowly.
