Audition is indeed one sick movie, it starts out as some sort of romantic comedy but towards the end it gets sadistic. But if you're a fan of Miike like me you can probably appreciate it.
Hero is probably the most visually stunning movie I ever saw. I don't understand that it only just landed in the USA, because I saw this a year ago. And usually the USA gets all movies first before we do here in Europe. If you get a chance go see this movie.

Lollerskates.
Asian theater has just as much of a chance to be good as American theater. Part of the reason why some people might consider Asian movies good cinema is because there are alot of cultural differances or approaches to movies that we here in the west just haven't seen. Also, being solely "Mistaken" and being "Mistaken en mass" are two very differant things, and the later is generally much harder to do, so generally when a very large group of people say somethings a good movie, its a pretty good movie.......ofcourse this theory doesn't hold up when you think that Titanic was the #1 movie for so long. Fucking logic.

Are you ignorant?Megatron wrote:Why isn't western cinema as violent or gory as asian cinema? To say america is meant to be a violent culture full of dumb rednecks who hate black people or whatever moore said, the movies aren't violent at all?
Go watch Italian cinema. Last I checked, Italian came under 'Western'.

Hey, just because you see most of that shit on TV (read: Dragon Ball) doesn't mean that the whole lot of it is like that. Imagine if you will, a country where the only american films available were of the "American Pie" genre. They'd likely say something similarly ignorant about all American cinema solely based on what they've seen.Megatron wrote: I don't give a shit about anime. Besides the ridiculous fights that usually involve a few planets and pausing a lot before you hit anything, it seems pretty over-rated and boring? Theres one or two exceptions, like anything, but most of it just seems to combine teenage fantasys with high amounts of lsd. People probably would like it, it's bugs bunny if he had huge tits and killed everyone, basically just pandering too people with short attention spans and little imagination.
