-rant begin-
Sorry, ranty ol me. Outsourcing is a crippling thing on America, I live in NC, where our thriving textile industry has died because of outsourcing. thousands of people are out of work.Outsourcing might raise profits, but it buggers everything else. They go on welfare, drawing more tax dollars, taxes get higher....it spirals into worse and worse situations.

Oh, and if you write incoherant crap, I will flame you until you think you've been ass-raped by a bullet train.I may like to take the highground, but I've been around DAC since 2002, and Vault13 before it, and if you don't know how to flame on either, you die a quick and painful humiliating death.Issues like outsourcing might seem funny thing to mock, but until you see a family barely able to buy groceries because a person in Malasia does their job for 2.50 an hour, you don't know word one about which you speak.

I'm talking base essentials. Food, clothes, and a roof. Or I suppose you could build a multi-million man, zillion dollar army and conquer a few more nations in the name of peace, equality, and the American way. I mean, that works, right?

Jetbaby, I'm Canadian, so your American way shit doesn't stick to my skin.

Your point about unions is valid. But you're arguement that they can live on 3 dollars a day is not true.

Well Doc, that is how this country works. They can find it cheaper outside, so they will. There isn't much we can do about it save becoming an isolationist nation or communist. Either way, we lose. Capitalism and greed win. I'm not saying I support it, hell no, but I'm consigned to surrender to The Man (TM) because we lose every hand.

Maybe its just me, but it always seems that jobs are getting outsourced or something? I know before the outsourcing to India became a big issue it was giving jobs to mexicans and before that the irish. Perhaps the issue also has to do with NAFTA which most people seemed to magically forget about.

Do you think that cars are still bought for 50,000 USD in Somalia? Do you think the greater populace even USES one? Do you think that a bottle of water is still 2 bucks? Do you think that a loaf of bread is three? When one USD is worth a million whatever-you-wants, it will go much further there than it would here.

I'll say it one more time: SHIT HAPPENS. The world is a shitstorm and the greater percentage of the people in it are fucked over. Until you figure out a perfectly universally acceptable religion and economic system, there isn't all that much we can do but stand in the middle and get ass-raped along with the rest of them.

I'm still wondering about this myself. Outsourcing has ALWAYS been around, it just flares up every now and then in different industries, yet no one seems to notice or care.

You know.....I could falme you into a seething, crying, unrecognizable mess....or, as I am about to do, I take the high ground.

The american system is messed up, no more or less than any other system. But let me make things clear. I know families who can barely eat thanks to outsourcing, so dont preach at me, boy,if I wanted to be preached at, I'd go to a church. Now I'm not arguing cost of living outside of U.S., I'm arguing about people nearly starving within U.S. borders. I seriously think you just like confrontation. And if you ever accuse me of supporting imperilism again, we will have words. I think what Bush did is not only illegal, but wrong.

The more you try to justify the shit you say with liberal elitist bullshit, the less I like you. Get off your high horse.

You basically said "I won't flame you because I'm better than you". That isn't the best way to talk in a discussion, mate. More like talking down. It pisses people off, and eliminates any chance of you winning a discussion.

As for an argument, this is the internet. Nobody wins an argument on the internet.

Not to interupt any future arguments between you two as well, but could we TRY not to rely on annecdotal evidence for this? I mean, I don't care personally, but it really weakens your argument if we just say "Hey, I know alot of people who are poor" or "I know its alot of BS cause most people I know have jobs" whatever. Just thought I'd mention that, otherwise, let the sparks fly.

Liberal elitist bulshit eh? High horse eh? I'm a slacker donothing in NC with zero effect on the world. Is that what you mean by elitist? I simply chose not to incoherantly flame him. He does have valid points. I don't like being accused of sanctioning Imperilaism. Secondly, getting me riled is not good...trust me okay? I'm not asking you give me a giant hug or anything. And the family in question is the Petes, John and Shelly, and their children Mary, Feargusan(or however they spell it, and Jennifer, He lost his job when they outsourced the textiles factories to wherever. Anecdotal...yes...but it make me touchy on the subject. I'm sorry if I was coming off as high minded or long winded, I just dont pull punches. I see alot wrong with America, and neither party is really fixing it at all. I'm just frustrated that the goverment for the people...really isn't. I'm sorry if I offended, I try not to piuss too many people off, last thing I need is to alienate more people.

I see.

Take a look at history. The Civil War was our undoing. After that whole mess, the power of the States turned to shit, and a strong Central Government took hold.

I'd very much like it if this country went back to pre-Civil War power. The states had most of the power, and the main Gov't had not so much. That would be very good.

I understand where you're comming from Doc, and I agree with you when it comes to subjects that are rather touchy on a personal note that its sometimes hard to rely on things other then anecdotal evidence, but you have to look at the bigger pictures in arguments then just what you see. And actually, you don't seem high horsed or narrow minded or whatever to me, A. its your opinion and B. since its touched you personally (from what I can tell) obviousily your emotions are going to get involved and that somewhat changes how you approach an argument.

Thanks Walt. I like people who try to understand all sides of the argument...and can understand wehre I'm coming from. And I'd like to Say, on the issue of the Civil war, while it was not about Slavery, it did end it. Lincoln used it as a tatic, but still, I'd trade good goverment for the freedom of a people any day. I won't be happy about it, but I'd do it no question.

Oh trust me, I know all about economic depression, my friend. This is Washington. I live near great places like Aberdeen and Hoqium where unemployment is the biggest job because you cant cut down trees in a forest which might or might not contain spotted owls. We're talkign TWENTY YEARS of uninterrupted hell for a few hundred thousand people because the industry that supplies a good percentage of the western portion of this state was shot to shit. The whole town reeks of death and decay.

And just to clarify, I don't seem to recall, nor can I find, any point at which I claimed you supported imperialism.

Oh, and you can flame all you like, but just remember, I'm discussing, not arguing. Take your pick on which side of that line you're standing on and we'll see if this goes any further.

Lol, maybe I did misread something, it's late, and I'm running on coffee, my side of the line, I agree with the Liberals mostly...but the conservative right has good points too....I'm on the side of people who need help. Be they in india or in North Carolina, outsorucing just hit me a little hard. I'm fine...but watching the petes...well, it just doesn't seem right.I'm off to get some sleep, but like Jerry Springer after a chair weilding free for all, I leave a final though. The wrold isn't perfect,t ehre is greed, corruption, and so many bad things taht it can shake a man to his core, but it's also full of miracles, and of heros. Help those you can, and maybe, if the universe is fair, it'll come back to you, if not, you still helped someone.I'm able to walk without a cane because I had someone to stand by me through so many hours of physical therapy that they blur together...and she's still with me today. I like to think I repay her kindness every day:)

The bottom line is.....

The Bottom Line

Kerry is now and has always been a self serving rich punk. Bush isn't much better but the deciding factor is that the Republican party that he leads tends to obstruct anti gun legislation across the board. Conversely the Demonrats want your iron, they fear an armed populace. The Republicans on the other hand don't seem to want to rewrite the constitution to suit a bunch of shit dick rich liberals that dont think that the common folk can be trusted with firearms. No I am not a Republican, for your information I am a libertarian but Bush will get my vote on the second ammendment issue alone.

"Fear a government that fears an armed citizenry"

Thomas Jefferson

http://www.davekopel.com/2A/Mags/Thomas ... orever.htm

PS: I have a hard time believing that Kerry and Bush actually represent the best and brightest this country has to offer. Face it Politics is nothing but a 'punch and judy' show to keep the great unwashed occupied.

Image

look its John Kerry second from the right and Bush on the left. Pretty soon they will start beating each other with sticks for your pleasure.

True, instead they want to re-write the constitution to discriminate against gays by making it unconstitutional for them to get married.

Do you actually believe this load of horseshit?

Whatever...
xbow wrote:No I am not a Republican, for your information I am a libertarian but Bush will get my vote on the second ammendment issue alone.
So... you're going to ignore all the other rights he has been taking away from us, just because of the gun issue? And you call yourself a *libertarian*? Just ridiculous.
