[Game -> Update]

The game has been around for a while but I've just decided DAC should cover it. <a href="http://www.youareempty.com/">You are Empty</a> is a game that looks sort of similar to <a href="http://www.stalker-game.com">STALKER</a>, in that it's an FPS/adventure/RPG in a post apocalyptic setting. It's also got the same 'alternate '50s' theme as <a href="http://www.interplay.com/fallout">Fallout</a>.

Leading Soviet scientists start a big experiment that alter human physiology and mentality in order to create super humans capable of building bright future and communism all over the world.  As a result the whole city, where that experiment took place, goes on a rampage. The majority of citizens died, and those who survived turned into hideous mutants - the only inhabitants of deserted streets.
 You Are Empty immerses you in an exaggerated dark and obscure atmosphere of Soviet totalitarianism. Fighting against mutants, that obtained super power after the experiment was carried out, the main hero tries to gain an understanding of what's happening around and save the day.
 
 Game world
 
 The game takes place in a big Soviet town with beautiful Stalin architecture and colossal monuments dedicated to the communist future. The inhabitants fell prey to a huge experiment carried out by a group of scientists. Most of the people died, but the ones that survived lost their human appearance and control of their deeds and behavior. Moreover there are a lot of plants and factories inside the town and in the outskirts. A part of them is still functioning.
 
 Game features
 
 - Unique conventionalized environment of the Soviet totalitarian society.
 - Fascinating and unusual storyline. Multiple endings.
 - Rich and unforgettable game experience. Main character is also subject to the effect of the experiment and runs risks of turning into a mutant himself. From time to time mutation powers have an a serious influence upon gameplay as player also gains some super powers.
 - Superb visual effects, including post-effects.
 - Distinctive and lively characters.
 - Due to new DS2 Engine the game introduces a high level of details and realism.
 - Realistic physics engine and sophisticated AI system. </blockquote>
 
 I genuinely think that the often shaky Russian-English translation adds to the atmosphere.
 
 There's also an awesome new <a href="http://www.youareempty.com/main.php?s_i ... trailer</a> available in <a href="http://files.games.1c.ru/empty/files/mo ... i">high</a> or <a href="http://files.games.1c.ru/empty/files/mo ... vi">low</a> quality, which reminds me a lot of the introductions from the Fallout series (note the slow pan out from the 1950s TV set combined with the atmospheric music).

Am I the only one who thinks the cartoony look of teh Commie Zombies will inevitably ruin the game? I know it's just a trailer but you can never trust those Euro-trash game developers.

Cool idea, but will it come through in the end?

I`ve been following it for sometime, it`s more about fun and irony than STALKER, and the engine seems to be quite interesting. And, big surprise, the devs once told a gaming mag that they are Fallout fans for sure.

BTW are you guys aware of Phase: Exodus? Gamespot has some coverage. It includes an E3 trailer, shots, and some news. If you're not a Gamespot member you can find this trailer here
game features:
- it is a computer role playing game
- 3D 3PPerspective
- TB combat (sic! so they claim)
- multi-way quest solutions

Anyway I'm not getting too enthusiastic about it (though it looks great) since it looks to me as one of those projects that are in development for Years and then never get released. Hope I'm wrong.

I've seen this 'You Are Empty' trailer - the environment being pretty smooth, critter/character designs are rather silly, especially that hillarious chicken-thing. Oh, maybe it's just I'm lacking sense of humour.
