*throws hands in the air* Bah, fine. I still say sixty years of "we saved your ass" is simply idiotic. And even an army ranked 17'th could have lent serious strength when it was most needed. As it is, certain thing conspired to help us, our Carrier fleet being out of Pearl harborb caused us to use that as a kernal for a restructerd navy, and changed doctrine. My point is. I have the very real feeling England would have fought to te bitter end regardless, and it's demeaning to constantly say we saved them, in a very real sense, they saved us. They held out for a long time, if they had fallen, the war would haved ended...temporarily, WHile Hitler consolidated his power. And the American Nazi Bund(Pretty sure that's right) could have infiltrated Nazism into American society. It's alctual;y disturbing to find out how big the American Nazi party was becoming at one point. If Britain hadn't held out, the last real defense would have been swept away, Hitler would have turned his full force on Russia, and probably have won. Then either from within, or without, we'd have had to fight Hitler with few allies indeed. It's really a balance of events, if one had turned differently, we'd have been screwed. If Hitler had used his jets as fighters instead of light bombers(idiotic) If hed had held his truce with Stalin a bit longer, if the Japanese hadn't attacked Pearl harbor and given the President his lever to get congress moving....I was incorrect about the reperation, and acknowledge that, however, The World Union.(or whatever it was called) Could have stopped that thing cold...if America had actually joined instead of going isolationist. Lots of what if here. We didn't save Britain, we saved eachother.

DocHill by the time Hitler attacked France he had 2,000,000 soldiers several thousand tanks, ten thousand artillery pieces, and the best air force in Europe how in the hell could a force that didnt have any heavy equipment or even in some case uniforms!! have changed anything except the number of US graves in the cemeterys of France?
