Very tentative Fallout 3 connection
<strong>[Game -> Update]</strong>
As most of you probably know by now, the countdown on the official <a href="http://www.elderscrolls.com/splash/index_00.htm">Elder Scrolls site</a> has reached 0, or whatever generic squiggle is 'Elder Scrolls' for 0. I was unsure whether to post this news, but <a href="http://www.nma-fallout.com">NMA</a> make the reasonable point that the single <a href="http://www.elderscrolls.com/images/obli ... eenshot</a> that is taken from within the game gives us a rough idea of the engine's capabilities, and that same engine will be powering <b>Fallout 3</b> in all its... glory?
<br>
<br><a href="http://www.bethsoft.com">Bethesda</a>'s PR blurb is that the game is '<i>The RPG for the next generation</i>'... I guess the 'next generation' means third person camera, real time clicky-clicky-dur-what-dis-number-ooh-look-flashing-sword combat and release on consoles. Can we go back to the previous generation for <b>Fallout 3</b> please? Thanks awfully.
<br>
<br>The game looks pretty enough, I guess.

At the Eldersrolls page, they call it "In Game Art"
Wtf is that supposed to mean? Is it a screenshot from actual play? Is is some sort of cutscene? Is it like the background of a menu? What?
I want to see some actual screen shots of gameplay.

WTF!!!
Why is RT such the rage? It sucks Turn Based is better. Is it just me or is Bethesda doing a good job at fucking up FO? I don't care if the graphics aren't the latest I just want a FO game similar to the previous ones excluding Tactics and POS. Herve Caen killed FO:VB deader than shit with shitty management and poor marketing strategies. If somehow the clock could wind back two years and Herve Caen could have been fired and BI had stayed together we would have one badass Fallout game and another sequel in the works. Two years and countless lawsuits later Interplay is dead and rotting. Herve Caen is stil fucking things up former Interplay employess have been screwed out of money and Fallout has been sold to Bethesda that makes RT games that suck to gamers with good taste. I just hope that common sense will kick in and Bethesda will make Fo the way it is supposed to be.Mr. Teatime wrote:As most of you probably know by now, the countdown on the official <a href="http://www.elderscrolls.com/splash/index_00.htm">Elder Scrolls site</a> has reached 0, or whatever generic squiggle is 'Elder Scrolls' for 0. since you say this dude & horse look like in-game, they look fine. Be that as it may, I don't give a shit about this engine. It's been obvious that it's 3D, and that's the only thing that matters about it. How great that engine is has more or less NO significance in the context of the vital issue: how Fallout3 will play and feel. Take Fallout (1): for today's standards it visually sucks, but it plays great.
Tell me playing an evil diplomat will be as rich experience as playing a good fighter in FO3, tell me how branching and witty the dialogues are, and how profound their impact on the game is; tell me about tough moral choices; tell me about no-frills convincing post-apoc world.
only THEN will I discuss eye-candies.

you will NOT get TB. If you don't get it yet, read L. Boyarsky interview.Janus Matchell wrote: Why is RT such the rage? It sucks Turn Based is better. So far from what I heard about Fanout is that it will be good. See Psycho you and your fellow developers have the right idea about how to make a fallout game. If you guys were able to put it on store shelves I would most definitely go out and get it. Good luck.PsychoSniper wrote:So basicly theyre saying if you dont have a l33t computer, youre shit outta luck.
To bad they cant just make a new engine that emulates the FO engine, WITH a easier editor.
And Teatime, are you sure this is postworthy ? It's not an actual ingame pic, considering we dont know how doctored it is.

Yeah, but remember, this is an Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion announcement, not a Fallout announcement. when thinking about what is important in FO3, I often forget to mention the involving dialouge, and all moral choices.
Which, is rather sad. Cause theese are some of the most important parts of a good game.
Interesting characters.. even the ones with no meaning to the plot should be interesting...
Like at the basket dick. I just can't get enough of that fella... First time I played FO2, I spoketo him about eight times, so desperate was I to get him as an NPC...

you're quite right. thanks for paying attention to what's going on here, makes me feel we might have some impact on what FO3 will look like. We could get some dialogue about it at least.MrSmileyFaceDude wrote:

I always thought the concept of daggerfall was a good one, though the excessive randomness and lack of character put me off.MrSmileyFaceDude wrote:Yeah, but remember, this is an Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion announcement, not a Fallout announcement. Anyway it's good that you recognise the differences between the franchises - I think one of the main fears of this community is that FO is treated like an ES game with a different setting. A fallout game <i>should</i> be unlike anything I've played from bethsoft before, though I've only played the games from the elderscrolls series. I actually played Redgaurd the most out of any of their games. It was hard to control but it was a good action adventure. Still, not much in common with Fallout.
The other thing is the viewpoint. All of bethsoft's games (I think?) have been the console friendly third person/first person viewpoint (one of the reasons I'm hostile to multi platform rumours, as multiplatform implies one of these default viewpoints). The ES series are inherantly console friendly, with the real time combat, viewpoint, and so on.
I am undecided on Bethsoft so far. I have to give them, or the developers, credit for coming over here and talking. We're not exactly the most welcoming of communities to people who aren't Tim Cain

I don't know. BOS was just a bad game anyway, I'd like to think it was because it raped the franchise but in reality it wasn't just that.PsychoSniper wrote:I doubt that after POS Bethesda would be fucking stupid enough to go RT only.
Afterall, FO games that displease the core FO market tend to bomb.

Re: WTF!!!
Wow. :confused2: The leap in 'logic' that leads you to conclude FO3 is being fucked up based on a pic from the next elderscrolls game is incredible. How on earth did you come up with that shit?Janus Matchell wrote: Why is RT such the rage? It sucks Turn Based is better. Is it just me or is Bethesda doing a good job at fucking up FO?
Oh, and RT rage? I think the vast majority of games since video games have existed have been realtime. The ES games have all been realtime, because that's what they started out as, not because "it's the latest rage" or whatever. Hopefully, they'll respect FO just the same.

Anyway don't worry THAT much Tea, shit happens; I guess we might've just press 'delete' button at more or less the same time and thus the mess. Just a wild guess.
