Fallout 3 - turnbased?
[Game -> Update]
It's a very vague hint at things, but Briosafreak pointed out something interesting over on the <a href="http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/inde ... derscrolls forums. From this thread,

caseylantz:
I would like to see a elder scrolls game that is large and open ended like morrowind but has a turn based battle system put in it. You would play it just like morrowind and be able to customize your character like you want but when you see an enemy and come in contact with it you go into a battle where you have option like attack, magic, items and maybe something else.

MrSmileyFaceDude (Bethesda Dev):
An Elder Scrolls RPG with turn-based combat would be an Elder Scrolls RPG "in name only." :D

FilthyMcNasty:
That was for all the Fallout fans out there.

MrSmileyFaceDude (Bethesda Dev):
Who rule, by the way. Just my way of saying "TES isn't Fallout, Fallout isn't TES" :)

I read this as hopeful. I can't find the original thread itself as my Elderscrolls account seems to be bugged, but I'll update this post as when I find it.

Update: The original thread has been found here, thanks to Briosafreak (again).

he said nothing anout openendedness...Even if FO3 has a neato burrito little combat system, if the game is as "open-ended" as Morrowind, it will sucks.

Although that developer my mean well but he needs to understand that we are not stereotypical fallout fans that roll over and play dead at the snap of a finger. If we don't like the way they are doing things then we will use and abuse our god given right to bitch and may be even change something.

The problem wasn't its open endedness. The problem was the fact that the quests had very little variety (fed ex and kill missions) and had little, if zero impact on the storyline.S4ur0n27 wrote:Even if FO3 has a neato burrito little combat system, if the game is as "open-ended" as Morrowind, it will sucks.
Bethesda promises to remedy this in TES4 by reducing the number of quests but improving the quality, or so they claim. I'd say it's definitely what the route we're looking for with both TES4 and Fallout 3.

Zero impact. Didn't even impact the other quests. It was like everything was a one shot deal.Exitium wrote: The problem wasn't its open endedness. The problem was the fact that the quests had very little variety (fed ex and kill missions) and had little, if zero impact on the storyline.
The other problem was the complete lack of unique NPC's, and the fact that you couldn't say anthing to any of them. Just click a word and a definition pops up. Even main character were handled like that. Seriously bad.
And personally, seeing those things in FO3 would be way more troubling that the viewpoint and such.

There is no such thing as a stereotypical Fallout fan.Janus Matchell wrote:Although that developer my mean well but he needs to understand that we are not stereotypical fallout fans that roll over and play dead at the snap of a finger. There is, however, something called standard grammar. You might want to look into that.
"You're going to have a tough time doing that without your head, palooka."
