Somebody set us up the bomb
[Community -> Update]
Rejoice. There was a nuclear bomb that was lost during the cold war. Luckily for the future of humanity, just 50 years later, it's been found under the sea.

CNN has the story:
Government experts are investigating a claim that an unarmed nuclear bomb, lost off the Georgia coast at the height of the Cold War, might have been found, an Air Force spokesman said Monday.

...

Smolinsky said if the bomb were found, a decision would have to be made about whether to try to recover it or leave it where it is.

An Air Force investigation concluded in 2001 that the bomb is probably harmless if left where it is. It also said a recovery operation could set off the conventional explosives in the bomb that would put the recovery crew at risk and do serious environmental damage.

The 7,600-pound, 12-foot-long thermonuclear bomb contained 400 pounds of high explosives as well as uranium.
I guess you shouldn't go swimming off the Georgia cost, then. Where'd that sixth toe come from?

You know what always bothered me? The fact that people bitch about unrealistic things in the Fallout RPGs and FoT, but never complain about the fact a nuclear detonation was at the end of each game.
The shelve life of a nuclear weapon is 12-15 years, after which it can no longer reach critical mass and won't blow up.
And as for the "leaving the vault" video featuring protective eyegear, the video could be patently wrong, just like a lot of other Vault-Tec information.

U hope you're not aiming thatone at me, since I am not in any way saying anything about anything unrealistic.You know what always bothered me? But even if the info vid is wrong, the charachter in
FO1 would prolly have been shown it, and thus should follow it.

It was caused by a plane collision over deep water. An F-86 Sabre and a B-47 Stratojet,if I recall correct.
