Fallout 3D gets updated. I think.

Post by Mr. Teatime »

[Game -> Mod News (DO NOT USE - use MOD > UPDATE instead)]

I've just been knocked off my bike, but I'm here posting news - that's dedication for you. Anyway, apparantly Fallout 3D, a first-person UT2003 mod, has been updated with some new concept art and stuff. I couldn't see any myself, but here is the concept art page.

Now the obligitory Bethesda joke: Fallout 3D? I thought that was what Bethesda were making!

PS - I'm OK, if anyone was wondering.

If this works well, it'll be pretty cool.

If it doesn't, it'll be sucktastic.

Do you mean bike as in bicycle or as in motorcycle?

Also, how did you get knocked off?

Oh yeah, Fallout 3d...yay

Uh, UT2003?

They should move on to 2004 or something.

The only difference between the two for something like this is that more people have UT2003.

Plus, anything made for UT2003 can be used in UT2004.

Actually, the number of people who own UT2k3 is less. The Unreal community along with Epic largely gave up on it. Also mods break compatibility between the games. You can however get custom UT2k3 maps working in 2k4, but run the risk of glitches like missing skyboxes, bsp holes, and other nasty shit.

That's very bullshit-esque.

Fallout 3D? Isn't this the bag of COMPLETE WACKJOBS who expected FREAKING BLUE OYSTER CULT to do their soundtrack?
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

*gives Teatime a cookie* Ouch?

And making a UT2003 mod is just not viable today, unless it's something widely ambition that's more an amateur project at creating a fullscale game, or an art project. Naming it Fallout 3d is very stupid. To this day, in later 2004, having only *CONCEPT ART* to show for it is very, very stupid.

I downloaded the test they have. It did a reasonable job of representing a vault, except that the colors were wrong (a functioning vault is not burnt-out brown!). However, I was lost for twenty minutes in the living quarters section, every room and corridor of which looks the same. I don't want to exaggerate, but I think this guy put enough rooms in there for the 1,000 person occupancy limit.

Something that was kind of neat was the first-person represenation of triple-monitor wall mount thing found in vault bedrooms.

Talked to Jota (The webmaster), site hasn't been updated as much as a layout change.

For those who asked, it was a bicycle, I was turning into my road, at the same time a car behind me decided to overtake me, and we crashed. I was lucky in that I landed on my side and my head didn't get hit, I'm just bruised and achy.
