More on Land of the Dead
[Community -> Update]
From a news article on Bloody-Disgusting,
Universal has acquired most of the distribution rights to George A. Romero's Land of the Dead, a zombie thriller that's both penned and helmed by George A. Romero, accoridng to Variety. 'Land' will begin production October 11th in Toronto, with casting already underway. Two months ago, Atmosphere Entertainment MM announced that "Land of the Dead" would be the first film to launch a new series of zombie films, marking Romero's return to the genre he created. Story of "Land of the Dead" is set in the modern world. The living inhabit a walled-in city, protected from the walking dead that populate the wasteland beyond.
I'd be interested to know if that Dennis Hopper casting rumour was true or not.

w00t!!! Romero has his work cut out for him again. I just hope that he will live long enough for his zombie empire to continue. I can't until they have more solid info and actual pics from the set and stuff.
Ignore my warnings and pay no heed then your live will be ended shortly indeed!

whoa
Yeah I know he isn't that old but still I wanna see him get stuff done while he can still walk. Unexpected things do happen to good people so let's just pray that he at least gets LotD done before then.

Actually I hope and pray his spine implodes and he makes no more movies if he takes the same path he was walking in Day... because it was just headed in a moronic direction. Learning zombies is just stupid. That makes them instantly better than all of humankind and we are doomed to the better evolution. Oh Emm Gee. Owned.

dude chill
Hey dude DayotD was pretty good because it expanded on the concept of zombies in Romero's dead universe. Although the budget was horrible the acting was a tad bit better than decent, special effects were fucking awesome and the story was good. Not to say Dayotd was perfect but it was good and it closed the book for a little while on good zombie flicks other than DeadAlive. No learning zombies are not stupid either because not all the zombies are instantly smarter than their counterparts as they have to keep doing the same things over and over again until they get it down as routine (hence why bub wasn't holding very many intelligent coversations with Dr.Logan and other scientific staff.) and learning stuff takes time just like in real life. No the zombies are smarter but not superior as they can't run and usually they aren't too terribly accurate with firearms. Remember also that zombies do rot so that means their days are numbered. All the humans have to do is keep the zombies at bay until they rot away, maintain clean water and food, and keep the immediate zombie population to an absolute low when zombies do find people. Romero is a somewhat intelligent man so give him some slack for at least even making zombies popular for the mainstream.jetbaby wrote:Actually I hope and pray his spine implodes and he makes no more movies if he takes the same path he was walking in Day... because it was just headed in a moronic direction. I give him some slack in that the first two were good. Day was not.
P.S. Learn to space your writings. You may have learned about punctuation and spelling, but you have yet to learn how to formulate it all into a readable text. Baby steps though, Janus, baby steps.

Thats like Starship Troopers following 'character' bugs. blech.
I'd like to see less action in these newer zombie flicks. They're not scary like the original Night of the Living Dead was, or maybe even the original Dawn of the Dead. Romero's latest movie was all about the action of killing zombies and lacked any tension or fear, which is what I think the genre was originally intended to feed off of.

I am going to have to call Bullshit on that statment there Goggles. You obviously don't pay much attention to the story that Romero is trying to tell. In Day of the Dead there wasn't any serious asskicking until the last twenty minutes of the film. The story was a classic scientist vs. the military while trying to explain that zombies indead owned the world and there was nothing they could do about it.Goggles wrote:Thats like Starship Troopers following 'character' bugs. blech.

I'm not talking about Day, I'm talking more about the 200(4?) Dawn of the Dead and the Resident Evil movies: Straight-up action flicks about shooting zombies, sniping zombies, shooting zombies, setting zombies on fire, then shooting some more zombies while blowing up zombies. Also, was it me or do the zombies sprint now?Janus Matchell wrote: I am going to have to call Bullshit on that statment there Goggles. Zombies run like a Kenyan on XTC in Dawn of the Dead, 2004 edition. I don't know why, maybe they were trying to emulate the "zombies" in 28 Days Later. Except in 28 Days Later the zombies were quite alive like you and mean, just that they got infected with a virus that makes them go nuts and attack people.
Haven't gotten around to watching Dawn yet, mebbe I would have if it wasn't somewhat of a remake of the original dawn. Or mebbe that was just me getting that feeling.Sovy Kurosei wrote:Zombies run like a Kenyan on XTC in Dawn of the Dead, 2004 edition. Nvermind, what I as going to say, was that I liked the 28days later Zombies, their gay parade swiftess made the mov a bit more intense, which I liked.
And character zombies... that just plainly sucks, romeo needs to learn the difference between console games for 8years olds and zombie mos. I thought he knew it, but anything involving character zombies is badbadbad.

Well even then DotD 2004 was still kind of it's own thing. It was well done and they only got into combat when they fucked up (GunSHop Scene) or when something fucked up (Mall Power Outage scene). For the most part DotD actually had a story and plot with some character development as opposed to none in comparison to other movies :COUGHS: Resident Evil.Goggles wrote:I'm not talking about Day, I'm talking more about the 200(4?) Anyways DotD and DotD 2004 are their own thing and showed should be treated as such.
